You wouldn't think so if he is playing as a defender... why would you weaken our defence for the time we have our best player resting.... and if Frost lines up as a forward then I'm convinced that we are tanking

Bugg survives, think our defence is now too tall unless Frost plays forward???

No Brayshaw, Kent... wtf?

Goodwins selections this year have been baffling.

North always destroys us in the air so let's drop our second key forward, and replace him with a key defender and a small forward. BRILLIANT.

Correct... When Brown goes in so will Frost. Simple.

I'll also ignore your ridiculous statement of 'tanking'.  I mean, really?

It will all depend on how we use the ball going forward.

If we just bomb it in, then Thompson and Tarrant are likely to have a field day.  If we lower our eyes and use it will then their height won't make a difference.

Intriguing selections to my mind, and I'd love to know the thinking behind them.  The best I can do is hope they are masterstrokes on the part of our Match Committee.

Frost for Pedersen, hard to see Frost forward, can provide Ruck backup to Max. Maybe Frost will play back and they play Petracca at FF or CHF!

Then Kent for Hunt (who is out of form, but dropped ahead of the headless chook Wagner) I  would  have given Hunt one more week & dropped Wagner!

Hopefully Kent brings his form from last week, but it was against a VFL scratch team! What about Brayshaw, maybe his attitude in the practice game went against him!

I get Frost, not so much Kent, but surprised on the outs!

First time I’ve genuinely questioned Goodwin’s selections.

Completely understand why Pedo was dropped as well as Hunt. Pedo has been pretty much useless, provides very little pressure, gives away silly free kicks in the ruck and his marking has been very average.

Hunt just looks really average.

Frost as a forward has never worked and I can’t see how he’ll improve on Pedo in that area even though Pedo is down.

Brayshaw not even an emergency. Wtf.

Kent is classy, quick and is a runner who kicks goals.

Frost plays tall and is also a runner who can be very quick,  insurance for Brown, but also makes us more attacking.

Pederson has been just ok and Hunt seems to be low in confidence.

Good changes.

??? All I was saying was when their back up Brown goes into the ruck Frost will more often than not will take ruck duites...

I wasn't questioning it mate, I was quoting you to answer a question another poster had about who will do the ruck duties.  I was agreeing with you.

Small forward line could backfire if we dont lower the eyes and hit targets. Nth will lap up our long bombs with ease. Goodwin addresses one issue in D but then creates another with Pedo omission? So less petracca in middle should cost us if he's at chf.

Struggling with these selections to be honest.

Personally think Petersen has played his role and is pretty stiff.

We have been struggling down back and with our midfield depth.   Unsure how these changes positively impact those issues.

Head scratching stuff.   I sincerely hope I have it wrong.

Frost I suspect will play back and head in as back up ruck whenever Brown relieves. I actually don't mind the mobile forward line Richmond style. It hopefully also improves our defensive pressure chasing out of 50. As long we lower our eyes and don't bomb it in, we wouldn't be that stupid would we??

I think it is Frost for Hunt - don’t think height, think speed and distribution.  Kent replaces Pedo.  Hard body to play wreckit Ralph in the front half.  He can mark and can kick a goal.

I think the selections are based on the need for speed. Hunt out of form and / or injured so Frost in to provide more speed. Same with Kent. North are a very quick side . We'll still be slower but Frost and Kent help.

Did any training watchers see who did some ruck work, like Frost? I wouldn't be blown away if Petracca filled the gap.

While Pedo wasn't as good as Round 1, I have no problem with his lace out passes to Hogan last week resulting in 2 goals

So Kent as the high half forward, Frost to break lines in defence. I can only assume that Brayshaw fails to get the nod due to him being pigeon holed as a midfielder(???) - and until there is another injury, will be waiting...as I would have had him ahead of Kent.

Lucky he won't play there then.

I don't mind the selections, but I'm baffled how you could drop Hannan after round 1, but then keep Bugg after last week.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
