what about the 15 metre handball to petracca out in space, who went long to Hogan in the Goal square. Thats worth double than a kick, dont over look the importance of a team releasing handball that leads to setting up attacking movements DJ.

each to his own but I think you may find that I am not alone with how Oliver is perceived... a good player who could be so much better if he kicked it more

Gotta have 4 goal games along with all the hard ball gets etc to say that. Judd is in a class of his own.

Still. Best mid we've had in my lifetime.

Clarry is a completely different player to Judd.  He has an appetite for contested ball and tackling that Judd never had, while Judd had that explosive burst to carry him into space and kick goals.  I rate Judd a little ahead for impact on games, but it's not a big margin.

Give Clarry another year or two and let's have the conversation again. In only his third year, Clarry's start has been every bit as good as Judd's. And statically, he's miles ahead of Judd at the same stage.

With more experience, Clarry's impact will be even greater. He's our most important player IMO.

My info is that success has gotten to Judd’s head since his retirement and he’s not all that popular.

Happy for Clarrie to emulate his success but not at the expense of a balanced life.

Oliver isn't playing in a team that is as dominant, so no, but that means little IMO.

Totally different players , Judd was a jet, higher impact and pack escaping speed, Oliver is already a gun, ball magnet, great vision, clean, and Oliver seems to play well every week, can’t remember another Demon who has done that over the last 50 years.

I look forward to watching him star for Dees over the next decade. He has a few mates in Petracca, Hogan, Gawn and Viney.

It’s such an odd comparison, because they are very different player. The only commonality between the two, is they are both exceptional players. 

Oliver is one of the best players I have ever seen in a Melbourne jumper. His hands are phenomenal. I can’t wait to see how far he goes. The sky is literally the limit for this kid. 

As others have mentioned it's a strange comparison.

Judd wasn't a huge accumulator, but had maximum impact from his possessions.  Judd was faster and his sheer brilliance was on another scale to Oliver.

Live at the G one day judd looked like an 18 year old playing against 12 year olds.  I doubt Oliver will ever give that impression.

That's not to say he won't be as valuable, or even more so, but they're just very different players.

Statistics can be read many different ways but the distance the  ball travels from hand and foot can also be misleading the other statistic and probably more important is the scoring assists and efficiency of disposal for instance a player who handballs to another play 10 meters away he kicks the ball 50 meters to another player on your side is better than a 60 meter kick which goes to the opposite team.

They are both good players but one has been measured on his whole career whilst the other has not even played 3 full season but has won the best and fairest at his club in his second season, when did Judd win the best and fairest of West Coast?

just a few off top of head - Ian Stewart, Royce Hart, Carl Ditterich, Tim watson, Peter Hudson.......

I really think the most apt comparison to Clarry is Sam Mitchell. A stoppage genius with the handball, but also a beautiful kick. He scored 100% for kicking at the draft combine. As soon as he adds goals to his game, which he has started to do, he will be in the top 10 players in the comp. Mitchell was also perennially underrated.

nup not until Oliver wins a couple of brownlows, helps his team to win a flag and be consistent every week. Oliver also needs to kick goals to add to his skill set. That is something Judd did.
