Weather update from East Brisbane:

Despite mentioning in an earlier thread that the weather looked to be OK, there was quite heavy at times overnight rain and that has persisted so far this morning with showers. Further showers predicted.

On the plus side, the Gabba drains very well and the warm temperature here will hopefully help the conditions to be good for Saturday evening.

Given the conditions, we will need to watch our energy levels. We will be unable to play manic footy for 4Q, so our guys will need to conserve our energy for the second half in particularly the last Q. No point being a front runner for 3 laps and then be run over the top in the last.

Reckon we'll win by 5+ goals** by playing an aggressive press against a side who will be helped by the wet weather, but still unable to skillfully pick their way through the press.

**I said we'd win last week too. ?

I’m looking forward to watching Hodgey point at all the holes in their defence we run through to score.

Not worried about this one. North more so (MFCSS).

Goodwin has flagged FROST TYSON & GUS as in the mix

I along with others could not understand why they were left out of last weeks team.

Out would go WAGNER, EITHER HANNAN OR HARMES and MAYNARD

Danger game looming!

Harmes to the midfield got us back into the game after half time.

True but starting the year 0-2 is gonna suck the jam right out of everyone's donuts.

What if they are cinnamon donuts.

I would have thought Brayshaw may have been left out last week because he'd only just had his wisdom teeth removed. Not only might that have left him with a sore mouth but he might have been on a limited diet, too, which may have weakened him enough not to be considered fit to play. Of course, if he's not picked this week, that won't have been the reason.

Wouldn't have been listed as first emergency if he wasn't 100% last week.

Frightening thought yet that is somehow a titillating metaphor.

I suspect you're right. If they had wanted him to play they could have picked him in the final 22 and withdrawn him if he wasn't right on Sunday.

Harmes was significant in getting us back into the game last week, his 3rd quarter was very good. You want him dropped???

I was quite confident going into last week and am finding minding myself feeling similarly confident going into this week... I have no idea what this means...

And being a Queensland game, pineapple donuts must get a mention (although haven’t see one for years).

No problems with that. Making it hard for Angus B though, but you can understand why Bugg would be selected ahead of him.

Not sure why you would want Bugg ahead of Brayshaw, for the record Bugg has the worst behind to goal ratio at the club- suer he gets it....sometimes, but when he does he cant convert. Brayshaw must be injured still.

I think we can agree Tyson for Maynard makes sense. So Bugg is for Hannan and i think Bugg's aerial capability is closer to Hannan than Brayshaw's. I can see the logic. Brayshaw will play at some point, dont panic

2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence.
