I define a depth player as a mature player you don't intend on playing unless significant injuries hit across the board or to a specific area. As has been mentioned by the club we had 40 players to choose from this week. They are not clearly depth players in my definition.

Ok, my definition of depth is outside the best 22 so we seem to have differing definitions.

And don't forget you also admitted to holding back supposed inside info on Jack Vineys injury, instead telling the board that he was 'on track for Round 1'  multiple times.

You purposely fed false information into the training threads.  I would ban you to be honest.

I was following the Club line lovey

Not my place to disclose info I am not supposed to, it's called principle and integrity        ah that's the issue you have

Yes but if you couldn’t tell the truth about what you knew, you shouldn’t have posted the "on track" line.

I’ve always looked forward to your pre-season training reports, they help bridge that long gap between our yearly disappointments, but perhaps you should not comment on any injury/availability/recovery issues as you are obviously compromised.

I can understand if others would want you banned for a time as you have apparently knowingly posted on here things that you knew to be untrue.

It was interesting to hear the comments from Roos about selection this weekend.

On Tyson and Brayshaw, “ they have to be carrying injuries otherwise there’s no way they shouldn’t be playing”.

This is from a man that helped the club get better along with PJ.

Tyson didn't look injured to me at training did the whole session

Brayshaw, maybe the days he missed took the edge off near game day

If you read my posts on this thread you would realise I don’t believe Brayshaw and Tyson are injured. This is some kind of statement by Goodwin IMO.

I brought up Roos’ comments in case members weren’t aware.

I don’t think you’d knowingly post what you knew to be false information. I think you’re just trying to save face by saying that you did because the players/staff just humoured you in relation to Viney returning for round 1.

I should have posted it last night RF, apologies, from memory it was on Fox footy prior to the Druggies game last night.

Having recently had a couple of chompers extracted myself, the Brayshaw call is totally understandable for mine.

I still can't wrap my head around Tyson as emergency though, that narrative regarding him last week was that he was BOG by a mile in the Casey practice match last week

No worries, D77, I'll track it down out of interest.

Thought it might have been on MMM this arvo. Which come to think of it I'm not even sure if Roosy is doing MMM radio this year...?

Ethan, saving face on a footy forum, same sense of humour as @Petraccattack I see

Nah chap, the original intention was and always was, Rd 1  if everything went right, it didn't

As anybody who has ever damaged a lower part of the body, in your rehab you subconsciously alter your gait, running style ever so slightly so as not to tweak the rehabbing  bit. this can lead to pressure on another bit that's not used to it

Think this occurred with both Viney and Tmac

I was just given an early heads up but kept it to myself knowing the Club was going to release

Going to training etc and talking I occasionally get a bit of advanced info, if I am told to keep it to myself I do

Hence my early call on a couple of selections last year, coz I was told I coukd or at least hint

Listen to Goody's bit abour rumour becoming folklore

You know what, %#%# that!

Various training attendees post reports to inform members on this site about training methods/standouts and they never make out that it’s about themselves. You do!!!!

Many appreciate your training reports but for crying out loud stop making out that you’re the only one privy to information. Your antics are tiring. I quoted you a month ago about Wagner’s progress and you had no decency to reply.

We are a resilient bunch and the discussion about round 1 selection has been fantastic.

We won’t support the boys any less regardless of which 22 run out there!!!!

Got a bad feeling about tomorrow with our outs.

Cats will fire for Selwood's 250th and that spud Menzel will kick 5 (3 of them on Wagner). Cats by 30pts... But will be very happy if I'm wrong!

Love the optimism AtBoG!

Interesting the Tyson/Brayshaw omissions.

If we assume both are fit (even if slightly underdone), perhaps it says something about the mindset of the coaches, especially after shipping out Jack W. Playing well isn't enough, having ability isn't enough - it's about doing everything that you're capable of doing to get the most out of yourself. Are we seeing the bar for Tyson and Brayshaw set very high because that's what the coaching staff think they should be achieving? After all, they were both drafted pick 3 as gifted juniors.

Maybe Tyson was dropped based on his last match? (r23)  I distinctly recall him turning it over numerous times in the first quarter, costing a goal or two and really handing them momentum. When exactly can you drop a player for the sins of a r23 match? Certainly not with a JLT game.

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
