Great performance - even though it was a JLT series game - that clearly indicates his capacity to mix it with others as an opponent and as a team player/resource. Would also like to see Spargo and the Ginger Ninja (Baker) next week.

He should replace Hannan with Brayshaw on notice.

Play him in JLT 2 and we'll see.

At VFL level he is a wonderful player and today's performance obviously lost him no fans.

Like others I think we may have a player on our hands (fingers crossed).

If he can emulate say Gunston in his better years I will be over the moon. At VFL level he is an incredibly good pack mark.

Looks very promising. Showed a lot of poise and class from his limited possessions.

He will be getting an opportunity early in the season you`d expect.

I can't talk this guy up enough. Some of the marks and goals he took last year were unbelievable. If he can emulate that in the AFL he will soon become a fan favourite. Kid is a gun.

How times have changed. No early draft pick saviours that need to come in round 1 and guide us back to premiership glory.

Instead a mid to late draft pick who played with our affiliate vfl team, where we develop and look after kids, could come in and play a role round 1.

Good luck Bailey Fritsch you have been provided an environment where you can excel.

You were on him early and so was WJ and of course me.

You sometimes get a feeling about a recruit and I just think that Bayley will be a good player for us. He has got to this point by virtue of hard work and he has undoubted talent. I just think he will make it. He will vie with the likes of Harmes, Hannan, Bugg, Melksham, JKH and Kent for a spot and he could end up the best of them.

Yes played well

if he can put on 5-10 kgs

anf keep his mobility

any thing possible

He has that trait of great players, he appears unrushed and looks like he has more time than others. Looked very cool under pressure too. Flower-esque in build but being skinny didn’t do the great man any harm.

Will make us better.

Upgrade on that other bloke who would consistently take eyes off the footy in marking contests?

Should have kicked 6. Missed two sitters and gave away one in the goalsquare.

Looks a terrific prospect and should go past Bugg and Harmes reasonably quickly. Appears to have X factor with his marking, and the quick snap goal while being tackled showed he's good at ground level as well.

All that 'weak draft that falls off a cliff after pick 15' stuff looks wrong already.

for those saying he'll go past harmes... i would've thought harmes would be more a midfield option after the past aflx and jlt1 performances? harmes seems fit and ready to run. whereas, bayley is more of a kick-a-bag kinda guy. we'll use harmes in the engine room surely! looking forward to watching the kid develop and reckon him and garlett are gonna cause chaos, lol

I was excited by the highlights package. Has a good sense for the goals and has a good pair of hands.

He was good at Casey and I honestly thought he would take a bit longer to make the jump to the AFL. He might get there quicker than first thought.

It's still early days but signs look good.

Think I prefer The Kelvinator.

Does anyone else spit a bit of saliva out when they yell FRITSCH?

apologies to the row in front in 2018

Hes gonna kick some brilliant goals and be a regular mark of the year contender.

We have plucked an X factor excitement machine from relative obscurity...   nowhere near the obscurity of a Liam Jurrah obviously, but he might have a similar impact on the fans....   may he be blessed the longevity.

Jerry  or Josef.

The kid did look good. But we're not going to have Majak Daw playing in key defence every week. That opened up a lot of opportunities that a better team wouldn't have allowed.

Having said that ... good on you Bayley, and GO DEMONS

Little bit of Matty Lappin about him.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
