No Nev? Disappointed.

The surprise is no Tom Mc.  Could understand if he is disappointed about being left out (or feels demoted).  

Hopefully, Goodwin told Tom in private rather than on the golf course where he told Jones last year he would have a co-captain and subsequently said he felt demoted (ironically, I think Tom Mc was playing with them).

Really pleased for Max.  

Maybe Tom will likely get another gig in the Leadership group once Jones and Lewis take a step back (assuming he renews his contract).

I mean Bernie/Nev aren't in the offical group but we all know they have and will lead. T. Mac may not be in the group offically, but the only way he gets into it in the future is by being a leader.

I like it. When there are 5, 6 , 7 leaders, it just dilutes the whole process.

A formal leadership group should never be more than 10% of your list/group, otherwise the message gets diluted, as a poster above correctly pointed out. 

I wasn't expecting this streamlined approach, but it's a great decision.

And it doesn't mean that those who missed out don't have a voice.

Love the new leadership group. No bloating. Jones and Viney both fitting leaders. Gawn has developed as a leader and the younger guys love him. Lewis is the most successful leader at the club so is a no brained also. Perfect choices this year.

Keep it small. Mean and Lean

What's not to like. And they have 4 Premierships between them.

3-4 is all you need. Glad to see this.

The leadership group is still to big, you only need Jones as captain and viney as vs captain, then you have a senior group.

I agree with the sentiment above. I can see the sense in having a tighter leadership group. Tmac, Bernie & Nev will still be great support leaders.

Why is it interesting??? Much more experience and has won 4 premierships.  He is a born leader 

because t mac was in it last year (as was lewis) and we can all see what a brilliant leader nev is

Just a thought about Tom McDonald. I wonder whether the expected permanent shift from defender to forward means he has to re-learn his craft which might be seen as requiring enough work that it prevents him (in either his or the football department's eyes) from also taking on a leadership role?   

I like the number (should be club policy for now on to have no more than four), I'd have Jetta in there over Lewis but I'm sure the cheerleaders will tell me how the players decide and so on.

If it's mostly peer voted, then it's clear he didn't have enough support from his team mates.

Tommy is a strong-minded, hard working and articulate individual.

But if I were a player, I wouldn't be voting in a 26 year old who is still prone to making diabolical errors on gameday. Whether that's an awareness thing or skill thing. Imo leaders should maintain the highest of standards in all areas of the game, and in the past we have continually had players in the leadership group who underperform in some of those areas.

I like the small quartet. I hope Nev gets a gig next year though.

See Goodwin's comments above. Sounds like the size of the group was a coaching decision. Possibly the appointments too.

I had always assumed the football leadership group peer voted thing was a bit like voting for a school captain where the kids votes counted unless they didn’t pick who the principal wanted. 

The best Leadership group I can remember us having

In a perfect world I'd like to think they're all on the same page. I won't mention campgate.
