The Granny is the first look I've had because life, but I don't mind it (and not just because Melbourne are in it). Don't know what all the sooking has been about, people are just afraid of things that are a little bit different.

We made it more contested which made it a bit more watchable.ย

There were hardly any tackles at all last night.ย

I suppose thatโ€™s a good thing for preseason and minimising injuries.ย

ย

I can hear the cop cars being turned, breaking glass and fires being lit alreadyย

Woo Hoo, we could fit another 12 blokes ย inย this team!!!

Booked in for the tatt

Time to get rid of the "sooks" once and for all - Well done Dees that was fun to watch.ย

I think you tuned in for the best match so far, as far as intensity and competitiveness goes. ย Was a good match, but head and shoulders ahead of anything else in the last 28 hours.

A couple of observations. Oscar McD needs (1) a big dose of awareness and (2) a bit quicker decision re what sort of disposal he is about to give off.ย  Brayshaw needs a bit of work on pace to the contest, he just seemed to look a bit slow tonight. That said, our endeavour was good but shots at (not on) goal were a slight worry. Tackling was excellent. Not much to beat but a win is all we could ask for.ย  Gotta remember it is only a series of short practice games.ย  By the way Ch 7 , get rid of those pathetic callers. They were abysmal.

@Satyriconhomeย said we would be taking it seriously. Seems he had the good oil.

ย

Brayshaws comments post Grand Final (hehe, wanted to insert that somewhere) went along the lines of being competitiveย in everything we do this year. After the brain fadeย of last year, it was nice to hear that. I firmly believe that the mental side is the thing standing between last years result, and greatness.

ย

Would like to have seen the kids, but the stand in coach wanted to WIN. Love that mindset.

Brayshaw Looked like he was blowing some rust off, but when the game was there to be won he smashed that big tackle which resulted in a goal, and I liked his interview at the end, said doesnโ€™t matter what we play we will be competitiveย

It didn't suit Bugg tonight without all the bashing and crashing but he missed a few too many targets.

It did suit Stretch who just didn't get enough of it.

Probably shouldn't read any more into it than just a training drill.

Brayshaw hit every target, Wagner missed every target. Disappointed we didn't get Baker!

Onlyย saw the GF, but Wagner is a real worry when he gets the ball, can't see him in top 30.

Melksham looked good.

First thing weโ€™ve won since the 1989 Ansettย Cup?

Poor OMac; gets bagged even when heโ€™s not playing.ย

If Bugg gets a game for Melbourne this year we are in trouble.

Fritsch will be a player.

Something is amiss with Brayshaw, canโ€™t put my finger on it.

AFLX as a concept is still a joke but the games tonight were better than last night.

I laughed when Brayshaw said something about being competitive, "even if it's just in the backyard", considering the meltdown on here after Petracca's backyard basketball incident a couple of years back!

Gonna pop down to Bunnings tomorrow and buy some MDF and metallic spray paint.

Who wants a replica trophy?

Reports of overturned Range Rovers all through Melbournes inner east. The celebrations have begun!

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.
