Why does one feel the need to start a thread to tell all and sundry that we'll finish 10th??? #lookatmelookatme

Simple really 'Tough'...

It's a no lose position.

If we miss out he can say "told you so"

If we make finals, well as a true Melbourne man he would be happy to be proven wrong.

I just don't understand supporters who revel in predicting the clubs demise.  Definitition of "Supporter " is "a person who approves of and encourages a public figure, political party, policy, etc."

Based on that the MFC is the "etc" and Picket, you seem to be doing niether of those things. As the saying goes, "with friends like you....."

I know people will say this is a "Fan Forum" but once again, I am not sure where you sit within the "Fan" part of the forum, more a detractor than a Fan.

Good luck to you and Go Dees!!!

Nah mate just a realist! I'm all over false Dawns and [censored] Hype!

Happy to be proven wrong , BUT! History would play out differently!

How many years in the wilderness is it!?? 54 odd years? C'mon give me a break!

If the Oija board thinks North is going to finish ahead of Collingwood or Freo, then it is connecting with the wrong spirits.

Bourbon or rum is my guess.

Finals is a non negotiable this year. I would also like to see our percentage consistently above about 110%.

With an okay run with injuries, I just can’t see how we won’t play finals this year.

The last decade has obviously inflicted some deep wounds on you Picket. Your Oija board findings are not supported by real world data.

Happy to see what other Demonlanders predict as ladder. Please indulge!

PF, even though you did this ladder prediction just to get a reaction , we could easily finish 10th or worse.

A lot of supporters are relying on the natural progression of the team for us to get into the finals and beyond.  If only footy was that easy.

At the risk of giving this thread more credibility than it deserves, I cannot take any prediction serious that has Essendon missing the eight. Whilst it is likely we will be a better side in time they are a year ahead of us in development and just recruited three best 22 players.

Don't swallow the delusional drivel that drools from Windy Hill. put money on us finishing higher than the Dons this year. That you assess those three new players as "best 22" only highlights how poor their list actually is, especially in close around the ball with Jobe leaving.

As PK once said ..."they're all tip and no iceberg!".

The word on the streets up in "rainy Dainee" is that for the second year running the messiah at TWSNBN has cocked up their pick ups....

If we follow the template of the past two seasons, it it not illogical to see Essendon, Carlton  and perhaps Brisbane high up there.

Look gents, not trying to draw any attention at all to myself just trying to present what I believe to be a realistic ladder appraisal for 2018.

Only Demon Andrew and another I think saw fit to present an alternative!

I am as passionate as the next Demonlander but , I am heavily Scared and Scarred of another false dawn built around the coulda, woulda, shoulda, actualization of the club!

Happy for other posters to post an alternate ladder!

Cheers

That’s loser talk. Think like a winner, be a winner!

I’d be scared if the players were scared to take the next step. But when I look into Jack Vineys dreamy brown eyes, I see an intensity that makes me feel like everything will be alright.

Callin it now, Dees 1st, will win flag. Can’t wait to say “I told ya so”.

You nailed it where our major problem sits, exactly what has been one of our biggest problems in the last 20 years.

However, think we are thru that phase now, club is a far more positive environment circa 2018. Think club has learned ( all be it very slowing) to ignore the negativity from certain supporters and remain positive and upbeat at all times. Very bright future ahead.

Umpiring calls,

last 30 seconds,

fixture,

injuries,

MRP.

Clean sweep all "five" anything can happen.

Woulda got good price 2 years ago on Footscray/Richmond double.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?
