1,584 ahead of where we were this time last year!

March has been phenomenal - increased by 5,661 for the month.  Great result of player phone-a-thon, Family Day and round one being at Home and at the G!

Very good chance we will beat last year's record of 42,233.  Final of 44,000 to 45,000 is on the cards!

This is great. But we must clean up these Dead Quarters!!!

No a pollie would have used 50 and three words we would not have heard before.

I had mine posted to me on the 19th of march and it still hasn't arrived. There is something not right here. Another call to membership I spose.

Being in Brissie I paid for Interstate membership on 2/3 plus 2 junior for twin Grand Sons. Packs still not arrived when club said they mailed Monday week ago. Also asked for the free ticket in M'ship package for this Saturday's game and no email ticket yet. Emailed and rang club 3 times now and with Good Friday tomorrow will have to ring again today. This happens all to much with MFC

I’ve had similar problems and did last year as well. Hopeless communication and organisation. No where nearly good enough. The membership process needs a major shake up.

I can see GA tickets being bought on Saturday afternoon DD. perhaps now with all the new sponsors on board we might be able to have enough staff however I suspect it is all done by outside contractors who give it just enough effort. Extra effort is not covered in the contract.

an example of where the bigger clubs can invest their money to remain at the top, size wise.

The fan experience or whatever you like to call it is very important.

I have never had more than the odd small  inconvenience from the MFC however I can see why people would get peed off . If I were  an interstate supporter I am not sure I would bother being a member after the last dozen years, just buy GA on the day the circus comes to town.

Rang them not long ago and they immediately sent my ticket through with apologies. Packs still not here. Buying GA for rest of family at the Gabba. Do not expect that many to turn up. Lions and Dees up here does not enthuse the Qld'ers

Hope lives eternal od.  Stupid by my own admission, but true none-the-less.

With the exception of about five years since 1964 I have always viewed my membership as a charitable donation Dof. Due to a number of factors I will only get to 5- 6 games this year so I hope the charity lives on.

Yeah I had trouble back in 2010 I think. Mine arrived this arvo. It took oz post 9 working days to deliver a post. Ridiculous. I don't like the way it is delivered either. Just in a pencil case which anyone can open and avail themselves to whatever is inside.  Was at the member tent last sunday to get reserved seat which I had booked and this lady complained that she got her package last november but did not open it till the friday before the game and found her membership card was not inside. ( why wait that long to open your package is beyond me but that is what I was told ).

It is now 38,610 as I’ve just paid my MCC/MFC membership, my 31st year. (Bit late but,)

And I’m making sure my 2 daughters have renewed by next week.

With only our second home game this Sat, we could make 40K almost a month ahead of last year.  think its membership day today too

Paid my MCC/MFC membership on the 21st Feb. Received an email shortly after confirming such and after calling and an email (which was never responded to) I still haven't received my pack. I don"t really need it but new stickers for the car would be great. Very poor form from the membership department. REALLY needs to be looked at. Come on Peter Jackson.

If we win today I reckon 45,000 is in the bag.

Lose and the microwaves will be out in force.

We'll need to do the Hawks next week too to hit 45k.

What were we at this stage last year?

This thread gives a running tally vs prior years.   It is pinned to the top of the Forum page

The figure at this time last year was 38,554 so we are about 850 up.

  • CASEY: Sydney

The Casey Demons were always expected to emerge victorious in their matchup against the lowly-ranked Sydney Swans at picturesque Tramway Oval, situated in the shadows of the SCG in Moore Park. They dominated the proceedings in the opening two and a half quarters of the game but had little to show for it. This was primarily due to their own sloppy errors in a low-standard game that produced a number of crowded mauls reminiscent of the rugby game popular in old Sydney Town. However, when the Swans tired, as teams often do when they turn games into ugly defensive contests, Casey lifted the standard of its own play and … it was off to the races. Not to nearby Randwick but to a different race with an objective of piling on goal after goal on the way to a mammoth victory. At the 25-minute mark of the third quarter, the Demons held a slender 14-point lead over the Swans, who are ahead on the ladder of only the previous week's opposition, the ailing Bullants. Forty minutes later, they had more than fully compensated for the sloppiness of their earlier play with a decisive 94-point victory, that culminated in a rousing finish which yielded thirteen unanswered goals. Kicks hit their targets, the ball found itself going through the middle and every player made a contribution.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?
