Harmes has worked hard to improve his game and to make sure nothing would get in his way to achieve his aim of establishing a place in the Melbourne team. By season's end, he had done just that and is now a solid contributor at half forward.

ANB went past him this year because he more regularly hits targets and does more selfless team things (and his pressure is more consistent, the stats bear that out too from a cursory look).

When we had those injuries I thought he would be able to do more but he wasn't. 

Still very much fighting for a spot round 1 from what I can see.

His best is good. Disposal can be a bit iffy. We can't have 22 stars so we need guys like Harmes to play a role. He can be a permanent fixture if he does the work....

I thaught Harmes improved this year but he still is inconsistent. Think he will get better over the next couple of years and could be a valuable player for us .

I think he a solid season despite a couple of lapses. Knows how to apply forward pressure and where the goals are.

he works hard which is all you can ask of these sort of not-quite-there players - he runs both ways, can put it on the scoreboard, and like most 21 year olds there's elements of his game that he needs to seriously work on in order to cement a spot in the 22

he's not quite best 22 for mine, but he's basically first-up in when there's injury because he's a good size, a good mark, a good tackler, and clearly has an effervescence that makes him a valuable contributor at times

it'll be interesting to see how he develops, as he's yet to even hit 30 games

I respect the young man for what he has achieved with somewhat limited ability. Harmed is a better than average battler, and in saying that I don't mean to damn with faint praise.

OK in the best of worlds he's not best 22 but he is still better than what we had 5/6 years ago. And I reckon he can still improve a fair amount.

He was handy for us. Our injuries opened up spots and he made the most of his chances.

Will need to improve to retain his spot but I wouldn't be surprised if he makes another big leap next season. He is a hard worker.

I don't mind Harmes as a player, but the gap between his best and worst is still far too great. 

He becomes a regular when we lose a few players to injury / suspension, but our progress as a club will be obvious when he plays only when his form justifies it.

He's not really a young, up-and-coming player any more, but hopefully he can find some consistency.

I love Harmes as a player. Was pivotal for us in that game against the saints to 'get into the finals' (LOL) where he kicked 3 in the first quarter. He is similar to ANB to me but I actually think Harmes is more skilful than ANB.

Love the dare and agression with which he takes on his imidiate opponent and really breaks open the game.  Can be really damaging by foot when he is on.

Not sure that he will ever be a power house like Clarry in the guts, but I think Harmes is just the sort of player that could hurt the oppoasition, particularly when he plays as part of a dominant team and they have their hands full trying to keep a lid on our guns.
