Ellis will get looked at too, but will get off. Whitfield not concussed, and didn't leave the ground. Fine there too.

Cotchin is a definite fine for mine, and a player that treads that line deserves to miss.

A devils advocate hypothetical: if it was Martin not Cotchin, would he still win the Brownlow?

Brownlow is Home and away BnF

I think you're right but it's not just.

To be just, it is also not fair that good ball players like Shiel and others seem to get singled out in Finals. Some miss games because of, (incidents, hits etc) and some don't.

Honestly I think he's just going hard at the ball. That same action would have happened 10,000 times this year and it's only being discussed because Shiel got hurt.

Cotchins eyes are on nothing but the ball.

Itd be a shame if he missed because of that

Or did he go in low and hard at the ball and brace for contact?

Either way... irrelevant.

Mrp goes by impact and result.

Deliberate, high and intentional. Cotchin has form and actually sped up to make the incident more hurtful to the head area.

Maggots up to their usual impartially bereft standard and heavily favoring Tigers to ensure their family GF Tickets.

I hope you weren't hoping for a GWS win and a win for $cully? I was certainly wanting Richmond to win.

Would you grade it careless and low impact? Still a fine and he is gone

I'm not sure it's even careless, he won the ball, at worst it was a free kick if you ask me.

Deplorable "non decision"by the umpire.

Might Dave Cotchin but shouldn't save him.

I think there is an unwritten rule that the MRP go by during finals and in particular the grand final.

My strong sense is that they tend to downgrade the punishment if it looks like costing a GF or other final. This ensures the punishment fits the crime.

I'm happy with that approach and don't want him missing a GF for that knock.

Yes, fair comment. I wasn't hoping for GWS upon reflection, maybe a lack of a closer game score and balanced broadcasting along with how seventy thousand  ferals can swing like a pendulum has browned me off enough for this year.

The problem for Cotchin is 1) there was without doubt contact 2) Shiel was concussed 3) he's got a tab running.

Normally the mrp would downgrade it to a nothing kinda fine.

So its more a case that the mrp has nowhere to go. It cant say it was nothing. It can't just sweep it under the carpet.

So any form of something os just a bit too much.

This ought to be entertaining.

I'm crooked on the umpiring of the incident. Clearly his head rocks back and umpire nowhere near close enough to adjudge it. Poor effort with three umpires.

Cotchin has already been very lucky this year, particularly with the jumper punch.

Has has the benefit of minimal fines and is 'playing' the umpires.

Third indiscretion and should go but probably won't.

Umpire should definitely go.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
