6. Harmes. Kicked the goals when needed to and got us that large lead with some great work. Also set one up in the last when it was looking tight. Wonderful game from him.

5. Pedo. Crashed through some packs and kept getting good possessions. Is a very nice field kick and slotted a couple clutch goals. Also love his tacking. Nearly 30 touches is an amazing effort.

4. Jones. He was back today in a big way. Aggressive around the ball and his field kicking was very nice. I'm still shocked when people here at times right him off. Sept action will suit him big time

3. Lewis. Took a couple really solid marks and was a big presence out there today I felt. His kicking was neat and he was hard over the ball. Is worth every cent imo.

2. Brayshaw. I was happy he was back but nearly got emotional when he got the head contact early thinking this is it. Then wow!! Forgot how good the kid is as a footballer and I love him on the hbf. I have a lot more faith in his kicking in space than when Bernie has the ball. He was fantastic today and could be a huge addition say we jag some September action.

1. ANB. Sorry Clarry, sick of giving you votes and I have set the bar very high now. ANB has superb gut running and he created so many options and assistance from this. He missed a couple cheeky 20m into the forward 50 that could have seen him pole higher and in time I think he'll nail these. Is becoming a very important player imo

I think Hibberd, T. Mc and O. Mc were monumental in defence today. They stopped a lot of leaks and goals from their talls.

6 Jones - copped a hard tag from Steele in second term because he was BOG by then. He struggled in the third when the Saints moved Steven on to him, but then stepped up again in the last. Brilliant game.

5 Pedo  - struggled a bit in the tapouts but what a game from a guy that could still be delisted post season. Will play finals and I reckon another year on the list awaits his signature now.

4 Harmes - Barely scored for a month and then sets us up with a stunning first term. Clear win for him and faith of coach.

3 O-Mac - So many great defensive options, but O-mac was the only one who was mega involved all day.

2 Lewis - A clever head and strong linkman off a wing all game.

1 ANB - Along with Harmes and Jones, the key architect of our first half.  I've said it before, but he's getting more and more like Robbie Gray now.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
