Maybe he also has Petracca playing more forward next season with a return to full length quarters.

I am not sure what % of the game Dustin Martin spends forward but I want to see something similar with Trac.

I feel a bit sorry for Tom McDonald.

His loss of form since 2018 has been dramatic and inexplicable. It has hurt us enormously.

That said, can we please remember that he’s been a fantastic clubman and has always exhibited a very respectful and professional and, I think, loyal attitude to this club.

He was a superstar in 2018. Regrettably, that body of work is a distant memory and he just hasn’t been able to re-capture any form at all since. I don’t believe however that this has been due to a lack of effort or commitment from Tom. Or, in fairness, from the club to him.

It’s unfortunate how this is all panning out - probably most of all to Tom.

Ben Brown is the future for us now.

It does if Pickett and Jackson take their games to another level.

True. But right now we are not close to the scoring power of most good teams

I mean I get what he's saying but putting ANB and TMac, in there is a bit ridiculous. Firstly both of those two are likely to be elsewhere (TMac in particular if Brown comes), and also both of those have shown very little in the last two seasons to say they would be dangerous.

That said if feel like if players get into form seeing Brown at FF, Weid at CHF, Kozzie and Fritta in the FP, then the HFF positions filled by the likes of Jackson, Petracca, Melksham, AvB, Viney, Brayshaw, and Harmes (those last three I want to see some regular rotations through the forward line) gives me hope of us kicking a winning score.

Come on Adam, get him to the Dees to “win a cheap flag”. Follow the Lynch model at Rich.

5:30am is my morning gym and coffee Mr Wise ?

Hanging for this to be confirmed. The prospect of Brown in red and blue is exciting. Imagine if we still jag 40 to 50 goals next year?

If Brown kicks 50, a fit Weid will snag 40 and Jacko 25. Not to mention the small guys scouting around for crumbs. The flag is ours!

Sorry, got ahead of myself....

Nah [censored] it Moon, lids off!

The Weid comment is interesting. He absolutely has the potential to kick 40 goals. By the time he had played 10 games this year he had already kicked 18 goals. In a normal 22 game season,  he's on track to a potential 40 goal season.

In the last 3 games he went goaless, but that's something I hope weid can build over the summer period.

One of Weid's main problems this year, especially once Jako was injured, was that every time the ball came into the forward line he was double and sometimes triple teamed. That doesn't happen with Brown and certainly not if Jako is about.

Well now there I go taking my lid off.

Settle down there, pal. That's a ridiculous comment, totally over-the-top.

More like 100 goals, I'd say....

To be fair, I think if he kicked 75 he would get a pass mark.

Like it Dazzle.

I want Weid to get stronger through the hips and core. Not necessarily put on more weight, just get stronger so that he doesn't get pushed off the ball as easily.

He has many good attributes that we underestimate, and is somewhat a confidence player. Presents well, gets to contests, can hold a grab (despite the naysayers) and knows where the cumbers are are around him. He knows his role, but must get stronger to improve it.

Also needs to nail more set shots.

All of these things are relatively simple to fix in the scheme of things, pending a big preseason.

I'm a Weid fan, so to speak...

I think the Smith experience will tell us that nothing is 100% until it is reported as contract signed.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
