Ben Brown is the worry.

Isn't he just.

Put him down for 5 goals.

I'd be happier if it had actually lasted that long.

[censored] hate these [censored] ...... :ph34r:

emotion may have got the better of me.

still though..... hate these [censored]. must destroy them. not for finals just because the pissant club keeps beating us.  hate it.... hate them

Would love to give them an absolute smashing, but we won't. Ben Brown will get ahold of us, but I think we will get up in a tight one.

Serious question, apart from the 56 North supporters, does anyone actually not despise North, their coach, their players, their song, their jumper, their irrelevance, their general existence in this world?

Jaded we need North, someone has to have less members than us.

We have Gold Coast and GWS for that!

I think the fear of this game is typical MFCSS. Same symptoms as last week when a lot of people didn't feel like we could beat port. I think we (including myself) underestimate how far this side has come this year.

If we drop points this weekend then we probably don't deserve to play finals. North are a decent side (arguably better than their ladder position would have you believe) but they really miss the likes of Boomer Harvey, Wells and the other guys they let go. I'm not worried about Ben Brown because I don't think they'll kick it into their forward 50 enough for him to kick more than 3!

We'll lose this week but beat GWS next... I've finally worked this side out, my gut feeling has been right about this side most times this year

Yup not only are we a very well coached and well drilled side, but we are hungry and have stars all over the ground.

Yes thats right, the MFC now has STAR PLAYERS (and a group of budding superstars).  A bunch of them.  Finally.

You may be right.

We'll win both. Am much more concerned about Brisbane. They play with heart and are well coached. They might push us.

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet but Hogan just needs 2 goals this weekend to bring up his first 100 goals. Nice mini milestone for him.

Absolutely killed us last time with 'release-valve' contested marks between the flanks and wing. We need to address that however we can, though we've shown little sign of coming up with a solution against similar teams.

Gawn, if he plays like the first half last week, will be of big help. Pedersen would be handy, but while okay, he's not outstanding with contested marks in this area of the ground. Although here's hoping Watts' has had the butter wiped off his fingers up front.

Hogan and Frost to push up more from their respective ends, and get Hannan in there to divide the contest. We need numbers and organisation at these aerial contests, so as not to get outworked and blocked and allow them to get free jump at it.

Dees rookie Corey Maynard continues to impress. 30 disp (20 CPs) and seven clearances as BOG for Casey. An AFL call up is not far away.

Would be shocked if was called up this season, especially with Vince and Jones to come back in.

And with finals in our sights, surely its not the time for debutantes.

me... if somethings irrelevant, it invokes apathy. hate is not the opposite of love, apathy is the opposite of love. I have apathy, loads and loads of it.

? I may be crazy

But it just maybe the Demon's win we're looking for

Turn up to fight

You won't need to save me

You maybe wrong for all I know but you maybe right....?

Confident we'll be professional enough to get the job done against a bottom 4 team that doesn't have a lot to play for

They have changed the weather forecast for Hobart. A few days ago it was no rain and light winds.

Now it is rain and strong winds. Let's hope this does not become one of those wet weather slogs where a few lucky kicks decides the outcome. The rain is predicted for the afternoon and evening so let's hope we can get a good lead before it sets in.

Saturday 29 July

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
