Reclaiming? As if it's theirs to take, and they just allow us to have it.

Get [censored] Eddie.

Anyone else enjoying the implosion at the pies? My only concern is that Derek Hine will justifiably get the sack, and that Eddie will come for Jason Taylor. Let's be realistic, his job isn't "done" at MFC, but the days of bountiful early picks and high list turnover are hopefully gone, although it does limit his role somewhat.

Didn't they want to be rid of the QB game. Funny what a bit of attention does, Just another sign that a sleeping giant has just woken up.

I sort of understand that Pies supporters and management may be a bit put out that the freeze/MND/Daniher night is scheduled for the QB clash. It would make more sense if we played that match against the druggies on a Friday night. We get another blockbuster, the AFL get to promote another big stage cause night and Essendon get to honour a favourite son and lose to us. Win, Win (almost) Win

Well, the QB game is their Grand Final, after all.

I don't mind this as long as the rest of the fixture is evened up (ie we get regular home games against the Bombers and Blues too)

That's why they choked :)

Poor Eddie !

Poooooooor Eddieeeeeeeee !!!

I think we should share it - we're grown ups now.

I think it's good they get to experience playing a successful club ;)

i have no qualms with alternating it / sharing the gate

in an ideal world the afl would be a full socialist organisation with all gate receipts pooled and shared equally

But saying that Collingwood get an extra MCG game by doing this so if they want it as a home game they will potentially lose a MCG game and could cop an extra away game interstate, so it would end up being a fairer fixture

That's the big crux of the matter. I'm fine with it being alternate as well, but they will still be first in line for getting preferable fixturing with prime time matches. If they and the AFL are happy to even up that side then fair play to them. Also as someone also pointed out, as long us it's alternate to the ANZAC eve match.

But yeah, they've had it very good for a long time with prime time fixtures while we get the crumbs, and realistically this is one of two "blockbuster" matches we've had this year. Fair's fair, we're winning and they aren't. So share their better time slots around.

Pfft .... Did you see the crowd on the weekend?
We ain't no sleeping giant.

How about if we let them wear their home-strip as a concession, and we'll come up with something that doesn't clash?

Agreed, we're traveling well but we're not exactly racking in big crowds.

I'm fine with Collingwood's suggestion and while we're at it, the Demons and the Pies should be given a number of prime fixtures such as Friday night games as is commensurate with their respective ladder positions at the end of the season. And when we play our away games against Geelong these should be at the MCG and the likes of Collingwood and Carlton should be forced to take the hike down Princes Highway when they play against the Cats.

You'd think in 2018 we should get a few more Friday night games so I'm not so concerned with this. Personally I think they should lose the fixture totally and have us play Essendon, given the freeze mnd occasion

Eddie has enough issues to deal with.

There is a remarkable amount of jealousy of our whole organisation at the moment.

I suggest we give them the Darwin game and allow a more relevant team such as Richmond or Carlton into QB.

Lamumba would make more sense than Ed and should replace him as President.

Like many others I'm happy for them to alternate or share the gate. I'll also love to see home games against Essendon, Carlton, Hawthorn and Geelong on a regular basis in any slot other than Sunday twilight.

Time for the dees to get a somewhat fair and productive fixture.

Looking forward to 90k at Anzac eve next year.

did you see theirs? 5000 less than ours and indoors, out of the inclement weather...

If we'd been forced to play at Etihad we would've barely broke 20,000.

i don't know about that

we have around 15-20k 'rusted on' supporters who have rocked up every week - hey! like most of us on here!! - for the last ten years of general ineptitude

pies appear to be slightly more rusted on, say 20-25k

what we don't have is the theatre goers that the 'bigger' clubs have

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
