Tyson a long shot and Watts ruled out according to Mitch Cleary.

I feel like he's been wrong a few times already this year, so I wouldn't put a whole lot of credence in what he's saying, even if he is pointing out the bleeding obvious.

I actually think we are very good at moving the ball quickly out of opp forward line.  Where we fall down is lack of skill and composure in delivery to forwards so it often goes in high especially in recent weeks without Salem, Watts, Jones, Viney.  Its easy to say not do this but that is how it has been in recent weeks - perfect for Lever.

If we let them lock it in their forward line Lever will have a very relaxed night in their backline rather than 'zone off and pick up easy marks' in defence.  The problem with 'having enough at the contest' is that the way Adel play in defence is that there isn't a contest - Lever is allowed to run off his man.   Quite right, Lever isn't going to out muscle Hogan et al that is the job of Talia et al so it frees Lever.

I still see a need for a specific strategy to stop Lever if we are to win.

We need to go through Petracca whenever we can as he is strong and a great deliverer of the ball, though I am certain that the opposition will do whatever they can to shut him down.

This goose has called us the past two weeks now and has given me the complete shiiits both times.  Craps on incessantly.  BT, it's time to go.

Loved "his next goal wins comment "when the next was Lewis's after the siren. Followed up by " ANB shouldnt worry about the clock... just needs to kick the goal."

From what I saw at training today both Watts and Salem good chances of playing, but not Tyson.

Good news. I doubt either will play this weekend, but good signs that they'll be available Vs Port.

Goodwins about to speak to the media so we should fined out who's ruled out he's usually pretty upfront about it

Edit: Tyson & Watts confirmed out

Goodwin: Trengove is in the mix. He's not likely to play this week but he's getting closer

The upside of having Viney, Jones, Tyson, Watts and Salem out is that Trac, Nibbler, Stretch, Kent etc are having to step up and learn new roles in the middle. Like when Hogan and Maxy were out, if these boys grab the opportunity with both hands, we'll only be a better team for it.

Didn't like our chances last week against blues with the outs we had but we just got over the line, no chance against crows unfortunately unless the mids lift significantly, looking at Vince, Kent, Hunt and Stretch as musts to lift on last weeks effort if we are to be any chance

No Watts, no Tyson... Now Crows will be backed comfortably. Especially based on how we played last weekend. Endeavour was great, execution not so much.

I still give us a chance. One thing about this season, they've taught us we're in everything.

This makes Port a really interesting game the week after. They're gettable with the ins we get back.

With none of our best 22 coming in I'm going to make a bold statement.

If we win this weekend, we will win it all.

We are every chance to win this weekend.  This year has proven it so.  It doesn't mean we will win, but we still have every chance to knock them over.

Goodwin also confirmed that both Watts and Tyson WILL play vs. Port next weekend.

This is what I was hoping for. We'll have a res hot crack up in Darwin but I'm not holding out much hope - plus the flight is no good on injuries. Give don and watts an extra week of rest and bring the rain to the G next week for port! Will be a huge game and hopefully the start of a powerful run towards finals.

Would they have played against the crows if the game was in Melbourne?

We might pocket $500k from the game but it might cost us a finals spot

We'll never know.  The plane up to Darwin might have sealed their fates, but then they may have wanted to give them another week regardless so they are cherry ripe to go for the rest of the year.

This game won't be the one that costs us a finals spot either.

    TRAINING: Friday 28th February 2025

A couple of Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you their observations from today's training session before the Demons head off to Perth for their final Practice Match. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Beautiful morning, not much wind, more than a couple of dozen spectators.  The players were up and about, boisterous and having fun. One of their last drills were three teams competing in a hard at it, handball game in a small area. Goody

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
