Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

AFL Appeals Houli Tribunal Decision

The AFL will argue that it is manifestly inadequate to suspend a player for less time for a high impact strike to the head than it is to find a player guilty of a lower impact strike.

I think we would all agree!

Fantastic. I think Schofield’s 1 week penalty should have been upheld, but I’m glad the AFL is taking a strong stance on non-football acts that cause serious injury (i.e., concussion) regardless of the personal character of the perpetrator.

"It is very rare that we come across an example of such a fine character ... and on that basis it's a two-week penalty," tribunal member Wayne Henwood said on behalf of fellow members Hamish McIntosh and David Neitz.

So all of the other people appearing at the tribunal are trash?

Disgraceful

Yep, as above, great outcome. About time the spineless twits at AFLHQ did something proactive about the embarrassing state of the system.

It's become patently obvious that different rules are being applied to different people in MRP and Tribunal rulings and enough is enough!

Consider me completely unsurprised that Schofield has no case to answer despite the laughable finding last night.

The tribunal members who made the decision should be dismissed immediately.

Supposedly Henwood was one of the Tribunal members who got Barry Hall off and found the Essendon drug cheats not guilty.

Not hard to see who he takes his orders from. Suffice to say, he isn't going anywhere.

Correct decision to appeal, and well done to the AFL for doing so. The penalty should be at least doubled.

The tribunal members who made the decision should be dismissed immediately.

I still maintain BOTH of last nights farcical decisions should be appealed by the AFL.  BOTH were a complete joke!!  Why single out just one of them??!!

I havent seen it mentioned yet that Houli was fasting on Saturday. It was the last day of Ramadan. If you dont eat from before 1st light, it would be easier to have a mind fade especially at that level of sport. Im not excusing his actions but wondering how strict he would be. My guess is that he would have fasted.

Checked: He fasted.

I got the Hall one wrong, that was Jones, who was on the EFC panel with Henwood.

Does that include nil fluid intake?

The whole argument is irrelevant to the case..

Yes, can't even have water.

Listening to Adam Saad earlier in the week he stated they could ask for special dispensation to have water only but he chooses not to.

I was asking a question that i hope someone can answer...

Okay I meant that fasting is irrelevant to houli belting someone on the footy field. It has no bearing on the case what so ever and can't be used as an excuse. The fasting bit is based on some ridiculous religious dogma and not within the realms of AFL football.

I know all that. But his fasting playing such a physically demanding sport, is putting himself at a risk through lack of hydration. I am amazed he is allowed to play during ramadan

According to my Muslim mate at work, he and many other devout muslims dont bother with getting up early enough to eat and drink each day. I asked why and he said you have to finish before 1st light (at least half an hour before official dawn) so he does not drink anything until last light. Im always amazed. Yes, he has mind fades!

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
