Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Carlton are only one game behind us .... kind of scary

Lose the next couple and we could be hurtling down the ladder (O hell MFCSS strikes again)

There are 10 teams on the same number of wins or 1 win behind us.  It's the nature of the season.

The pretenders will one by one fall by the wayside.

The thing is, we've got to keep on winning while they do. Or we'll fall with them.

Carlton if you have noticed have won could be wrong 4 of their 5 matches in wet conditions they play exceptionally well in the wet and grind away fair play to them but thought I would note that. I must say I would love to punch that Bolton in the head tho especially when he is cupping his muttering mouth when his side stuffs up or decision goes against him. Also add Silvagni and Cripps into the scenario too can't stand them.

It's amazing how close this season is. If you win three games in a row from just about any position you become a finals threat and if you lost theee from the top of the ladder you are probably out of the 8

Not sure where I stand on Carlton.

Their best players seem to always be the same ones, almost all of whom are old.

The AFL website had their best as: Gibbs, Simpson, Docherty, Jones, Kreuzer, Murphy, E.Curnow

Only one of those players is younger than 26 (Docherty).

Simpson is 33, Murphy nearly 30, Gibbs is 28 (and wanted to leave last year), Kreuzer 28, Curnow 27, Jones is already 26. Dale Thomas is 30, too.

Of their players under the age of 25, they've got three stars (Cripps, Weitering and Docherty) but otherwise just OK players (Plowman and Marchbank, for example).

Nonetheless, they seem very well coached and other than the Friday night disaster against Port, they turn up every week and put in 100% effort. They've knocked over GWS and have useful wins against Sydney, Essendon, Collingwood and GC on the road. Not bad for a side who most people consider a certain bottom 4 finisher.

plowman and marchbank are better than 'just okay' i think.

carlton are super well drilled. haven't scored over 100 points in 23 weeks apparently, but they're getting the wins - they remind me a lot of us under roos' second year.

the trick will be if they can transition into an offensively-minded team too

Fair, they're doing quite well this year.

I certainly don't watch enough of Carlton to see how they're performing overall but every time they win the highlights and stand outs seem to always revolve around the same players.

They haven't scored 100 points since Round 11 last year against Brisbane (which was, coincidentally, their last win for the year until they beat us in Round 22).

If you were a Carlton fan, you'd have to be happy with 5-7 and 100% effort on a weekly basis, regardless.

oh, absolutely - their best players are their best players

kreuzer is such an important part of their side, and will be a challenge for whatever happens with our rucks when we play them in a couple of weeks

but i think this is about where they should be - as you say, their experience and talent is seriously good talent and experience

they're better than they showed for a few years. and with their raft of cheap gw$ acquisitions - some of which will work out, some of which won't - they're a lot more skilled than they were previously

but it still comes down to kreuzer, gibbs, murphy, simpson, wright, daisy, and even levi, then their young talent is clear with the likes of cripps, weitering, docherty, marchbank and sps

what happens when that senior core cop injuries, lose form and / or retire is the $64m question inside the visy brown bag

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
