Bye Round 11 - Non MFC Games

If there were any more proof needed that Chris Scott is just riding a talented couple of players to victories at Geelong, itโ€™s that Patrick Dangerfield is apparently calling all the matchday moves in addition to winning games off his own boot too.

ย

Umpire says to Cockatoo "Don't get sucked in to it Nakia" after Nakia was the one who started the fracas in the first place. Way to show your impartiality umpire!

Shut up Ling.ย

Can't believe people thought he was a coach in waiting a couple of years ago. Shouldn't be allowed to commentate on any game yet alone Geelong games!

Geez when Adelaide get beaten, boy do they get beaten!

Adelaide really are flat track bullies. Atkins... a butterfly.

...and Jenkins is right up there with Tippett & Vickery as aย useless big man.

Plays small for his height.

If it doesn't come over the back to him he's a waste of space.

I cannot believe this geelong team lost to the bummers. Yes I know that Geelong are on there home ground and its a huge advantage but they just have winners everywhere.ย

This has been long established. ย I'd love nothing more than to knock them out of the finals.

IMO it was zachary the same scenario as us in round 2 last year. They (and we) figured we just hadย to go through the motions and a win was assured.

Ling says the same thing over and over again every game. "How was that from *insert player here*, Unbelievable courage.. you won't see better than that"

Commentary rubbish! Always favoured [censored].

Umpires rubbish! Always favoured [censored].

Crowd pathetic! 30,000, big deal, every bloody Friday night. [censored] or Richmond.ย

I had to read that a few times - I presume the prudish censor dislikes a term referring to feline creatures.ย

Watching Hawthorn's pathetic effort on Thursday night and Fremantle the weekend before makes me despair about the valuableย 8 premiership points that we pizzed away earlier this year against those two.

We were all saying this about Geelong before as well. But now they've put away the Dogs, Port and Crows on there home deck.ย

Must be nice having the biggest homeground advantage in the league.

The crow has no-one of Selwood or Danger character. Sloane is a one man band who teams target, no-one in the midfieldย can help him it seems.

well it seems that there are now three lock ins for the 8. Geelong, Adelaide and GWS. If Freo beat Collingwood then one can almost rule out Collingwood which means that Hawthorn, Carlton, Collingwood, Brisbane are the teams that cannot make it.

Leaves 11 teams vying for five spots. One can start to pencil in Port as a probability for the 8 which means 10 for four spots.

GWS v Essendon is a big game for the Bombers not to mention almost all other games in this round.

It is almost good to be enjoying the bye and watching the permutations play out.

The Brothers and Geelong run the AFL now. Representatives on every Board of merit, and advanced knowledge of any rule changes.

Blind freddy could see what is going on and all the pressย want to do is not rock the boat....

ย

I see Chris Scotts' whingeingย continues with his ' please don't suspend Hawkins ' plea. He and his brotherย never stop moaning. Pathetic.

They try to influence the MRP and the general umpiring during the match.ย

Its not subtle but it seems to work for them.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterdayโ€™s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown andย  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.

The Demons lacked some polish but showed a lot of heart and took it right up to the Bulldogs in an attempt to spoil their finals hopes ultimately going down by a goal at the MCG.
