Wow, two captains saying bye to the Suns. What now for the club? This is very messy, they can’t attract top tier players, they only lose them and I feel a bit for Dew now. Do they just load up with draft picks and make it an inception year all over again? 

There was some talk Anthony Miles might end up there but he’ll have no one to kick the ball to.

I’d seriously consider this trade. He’s the gorilla minder, frost can be an offensive weapon and lever third up.

As much as I like that they have just re-signed OMac so its unlikely you would think...

Feel for the Suns,  there seriously in dire straits. Can seriously play but unlikely to head our way.

Could there be any greater need shown by May and Lynch to revisit this whole concept. 

Bottom clubs are far too easy a target and the beneficiary doesn’t feel much pain at all.

Not worth the pick required and too much coin required, stay away.

Keep our boys happy with the coin they deserve.

If May breaks his contract and if the AFL allow it, he will become a RFA as he’s in his 8th year. Therefore no pick would be required (Not that I want him at the Dee’s).

a player can't 'break' his contract

he either gets traded, as per his request, or remains a gc17 player til next year, when he'd be a restricted free agent - same as lynch - as he's in the top portion of paid players

gc17 are in a HUGE mess

all the projections over the last 5 years have had may and lynch as their bookends for that time AND next five years

scrimshaw will end up at the peptides as well, i think, and whilst he hasn't come on at all (few have; andrew swallow is their nathan jones the way things are going, yet touk miller will be their next skipper) he was super-highly rated at the time, they used pick 7 on him, now they might be lucky to get pick 47 for him

I would expect we'll see something along the lines of;

May & late pick (4th Round maybe) to Collingwood 

Moore & 2nd or 3rd Round Pick to Sydney

Lloyd & Newman to Gold Coast

Gold Coast should take the King twins in the draft at Picks 2 & 3 as Lynch & Mays replacements. Then stock up on more mature age talent (Miles & Horlin-Smith have been mentioned). Plus they should also seriously consider Brendan Goddard & making a play for Jarryd Roughead (Hawthorn).

I would expect it to be:

- Moore to Swans for their first round pick (pick 12-14)

- May to Pies for that first round (12-14) pick plus Pies’ first rounder (14-18)

- Gold Coast’s second round pick (19-23) to Pies

Lloyd will stay at Swans and Newman will end up in Victoria 

Dont need him with the emergence of Frost and Lever returning too.

Is that right? We don't need him, Frosty craps all over him would rather pay existing monies to the rest of the squad.

There is no doubting that it's easy to be completely caught out of position as a defender if there is a turnover up the field, but any defender with decent reaction time and some sort of pace would have at the very least been able to effect a spoil on a few of Brown's leads when the defender and forward were at arms reach of each other. We are crying out for Steven May. Or any half-decent key defender that doesn't make more than two or three catastrophic errors a game. 

Seen too many great fullbacks and CHbacks at Melbourne over the years and won't pointlessly list them, however, I have never been impressed with OMac. For example, Brown leads well and early for nearly every possession; any idiot can watch him but OMac seemed to forget that at critical moments, trailing by metres as if he was trying. He marks well sometimes, he kicks reasonably well but not well enough for a fullback. He does not have real rebound that is consistent across a game. He is out-manoeuvred regularly with one simple bump and he does not learn from these; prepare for these, avoid these, with any real effect, even after his somewhat improved physical development that is still too little for a fullback. He is seriously slow and could better utilise the strengths of his teammates in the deep back region - but seldom does. Frosty is already far better but more suited to a HBFlank, himself, or even as a backpocket rebounding tall.  May from GCS, perhaps. Another role for recruiting Preuss from North? Sure could be as he has these credentials, and more.

GC already have pick 2, they’ll get pick 3 for Lynch and pick 4 for May.

May will get to his club of choice this year even if traded while in contract.  He doesn't need to be declared an FA. 

That deal is dressed up to help GCS but is really being brokered to help the receiving club (Collingwood in the box seat with Hawthorn next in line) as they get May free.

The AFL should just give GCS a priority pick and make Collingwood/Hawthorn trade for May.  This benefits GCS a lot more (with picks 2, 3, 4 and the May 1st round pick) and maintains some semblance of integrity (yes, an oxymoron word in the AFL) around the FA rules.

If the AFL agree to that suggestion, the slippery slope just got slipperier!   What do they do the next time a player wants to break a contract to become an FA so he can go to his preferred club which he can do via a trade anyway.

This is really not the time for AFL expediency.  The sooner they make receiving FA clubs 'pay' in draft picks or draft points the better.

If he becomes a free agent as suggested whatever we were going to offer gaff we should offer may.

Apparently the AFL have ruled it out already. He will have to be traded.

This is one of 2 key issues.

1. The club receiving the player loses nothing except salary cap space.

2. The club losing the player - often a bottom club - receives a compo pick if its a RFA - but that gets them another junior. Maybe they need as well extra list space to recruit an older play a la Hodge or Lewis...

Heard Hocking on the radio talking about PPicks and he said they are a 'sugar hit'. Said to look at the rebuild at melbourne as to how to handle it. A 'whole of club' approach. It looks like the new blueprint...

KPD depth = OMac, Frost, Lever, Petty, Keilty. 

Trust in what the footy department does though.

With a backline succeeding in finals, Lever to return and Petty developing nicely, I also don't see where he fits.  But it seems the club does.

GCS is looking for a high draft pick as next year they will get pick 2-5 when he leaves as a Free Agent.  It will require our 2019 1st pick plus player/pick. 

We are a latecomer to the party as he seemed headed to Collingwood.
