Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Williamstown v Casey Demons

KC from Casey

Recommended Posts

The 2017 VFL season upon us with Casey's first game happening at the end of the opening split round on Easter Monday against Williamstown at scenic Burbank Oval.

The VFL website has the Casey Demons season preview which sets out the various changes supporters will see during the season.

With the transition from the Scorpions to Demons there will be more changes on the cosmetic side with the new jumpers to be unveiled in Monday's game. If you're a Demon through and through you should be pleased.

The club has also announced its 2017 leadership group:-

Jack Hutchins (C), Ed Morris (VC), James Munro (VC), Angus Scott (VC), Tom Baker, Jordan Moncrieff, Aloysio Ferreira.

The large injury toll among the Demons' AFL list will put pressure on the club in the opening rounds and there will be plenty of new faces for fans to see.

I will bring the team selections as soon as they are available on Thursday nights.

Due to a change in work schedule I may not be able to provide match reports on a weekly basis so we are on the lookout for Casey regulars to help out either with reports or information on which the Demonland Casey reports can be based. Please PM if you can assist.

How can you select decent back up players when the VFL comp starts at rd 4 of the AFL. To top it off their is a bye coming up due to an interstate match. The development league is worst, fancy having byes when there are an even amount of teams, who does that.? (ironless stein ! ) . The people running the WAFL must be gifted with a brain as their comp start weeks before the AFL.

Interesting and valid point but when you take a moment to think about it very few of the world's top sports have a back up competition. No wonder the soccer players find it so hard to maintain form when they are not playing for the main team.

Diamond_Jim, English and European sides play in excess of 32 games a year plus they are involved in many other matches i.e F.A cup and clubs do have u23,u20 sides running. There is always enough soccer for any team listed players. If Victorian based football sides want to be on a level playing field with their W.A counterparts then they have to start the season earlier. I wish that someone would explain to me why byes are needed in the Development League,I thought the AFL was going to change that.

Hibberd back, excellent.

Looking forward to seeing the progress of Dion Johnstone, think we have a real player on our hands there.

Totally agree with Hibberd.

With him in our back six we should be more potent. With a shortage of fit defenders, you would think that it will be easier to discern the pecking order come selection time.

Hope he does well tomorrow and the Magoos have a win.

Totally agree that the WAFL (does the SANFL too?) provides far better backing to their AFL clubs than does the VFL, at least as far as scheduling is concerned

Does the AFL have any financial involvement in VFL? WAFL? SANFL?

Interested to see how Maynard and Philipovic go. Our rookie list is loaded with projects,  and it would be pleasing for another player to push for senior selection later in the year*

Jimmy Munro named in the leadership group but picked in the twos? Also shocked to see Dyl Collis miss out on a spot, both had great second halfs to last year. Any idea if these two have missed chunks of the pre season, or merely out of form?

Must say I am thinking of heading along

Train to the old Willy station a nice meal of fish and chips on the Esplanade and then off to the game.

Only light winds predicted so it should not be too bad off the bay.

The other choice is Hawks v Cats at the G but I may need a change of scene after Saturday's game.

Some practical questions:

Numbers.... how do I find out the numbers of the players

AFL (Melbourne Support).... I suppose I still have to pay and how much please

Suggested viewing spots ie good wind breaks

Thanks

PS and any luncheon suggestions

Being Monday and a Public holiday, I'm not sure what would be open after the game. The club has a restaurant, but I am not sure about after game meals. The Rifle Club hotel is right next to Nth Willy station two stops up from the ground, you can definitely get food, - can't vouch for the quality.

The best viewing is from the Grandstand, shouldn't have trouble finding a seat.

If your a Melbourne member how much do you have to pay to get in today?

I wanted to ask the same question, according to a google search it's $10 for adults and $5 for visiting VFL club members.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
