I like all the talk of him going to Collingwood. He can play in a backline that couldn't get a game at Melbourne.

Or

He can come to Melbourne that are heading the opposite direction up the ladder to Collingwood.

I reckon Frost is part of the deal. It's the only plausible reason he would have put contract negotiations on hold till the end of the season.

Frost, who would be around the mark of their best 22 without Lever, and out first round pick this year would easily get it done.

If that eventuated, we'd have another gap to fill on the list in terms of a key back.

Joel Smith and I believe Watts can be a very good back man.

Watts should have played spare man back v North last week instead of Lewis. I thought the coachs would have got that right but got it totally wrong. Watts is tall, a good read of play and foot disposal is A1. I think Watts can play a very similiar role to Jack Gunston. Gunston has been a gun down back. I suppose if we trade for Lever this will be his role...

Watts needs to stay forward for the rest of his career and Smith wouldn't fill the need - he's not big enough.

Playing Devil's advocate....I don't want to lose him but...would you trade Weideman to Collingwood (probably looking for a tall forward) for draft pick + possible player for on-forwarding to Adelaide for Lever ?    We already have Watts, McDonald and Hogan as talls (when all fit) and we could also look at Omac going forward if Lever comes in.   It looks worse when on paper, as I think Weideman will develop into a very good player...

No

Only against the rules for free agents to meet with other clubs. Lever is too young to be a free agent so it's fair game. Sucks for Adelaide that they continue to lose talent. That's Dangerfield, Phil Davis, Tippett, Bock all gone when they were at their peaks or close to as players.

A bit like (a then injury ridden) Scott Thompson going to Adelaide.  Anyone remember did we get anything for him?

My mate is an AFL scout, and he thinks lever is on his way. He also said that one of the guys he works with is "best mates" with lever and apparently he is coming to Melbourne for the next few weeks when he can to look at houses.

Sounds like one of those "my brothers mates dads cousin knows such and such" I realise but it seems like we couldn't be in a better spot to land him.

Rumours are fun

Like Melbourne as in the capital of Victoria, or Melbourne as in MFC????

Pick 12 which we gave to Geelong for Beamer

To continue this story, when Beamer left as a Free Agent, we received a 3rd round draft pick as compensation, which turned into Dean Kent.

What does Judd's gran reckon ?

Sorry, visiting the city. Kew more specifically, is what I was told. But again, just a rumour

Dont go to the Pies Jake.....come and play at a more successful club.

Maybe he will be happy having his grand final every year for the Pies at the 'G' on Queens Birthday Monday?

If we can't get it done with a 1st round pick and 2nd round pick then not worth it, I would even go 2017 1st round 2018 1st round for lever and Adelaide 2nd pick this year or next, shouldn't need to trade any players

If he wants to come here then this years 1st rounder and a later bunch of pick swaps will do. If he doesn't then we can offer all our first rounders until 2050 and we will be wasting our time.

lever is all class; easily worth two first rounders

will in the conversation as the best defender in the competition for the next decade

all the word i've heard is that it's the dogs, us and the pies into him in a big way

2 first rounds??? You have to be joking. He  has only had 1 good year and plays as a 3rd tall back. Gary Albett went on 2 first rounds. Worth a pick in top 10 and a late 40's pick.

I'd defiantly give up a first round pick a seconder rounder and a fringe player max. Lever is that bloody good though that he would give us certainty in the use of those picks and of course a ready made young gun back with 10 plus years to come. Yes please!

Watch Lever for 30 seconds and anyone can tell he is all class.

crows will demand a seriously good player and a first round pick if a club isn't prepared to give up two good players

lever will be one of the best key defenders in the competition for the next decade

OUT: 1st round pick, Tyson
IN: Lever, 2nd round.

Something around that ball park should satisfy Adelaide.

What makes you think Tyson would just want to pack his bags and move to Adelaide? He's already been Oakleigh Chargers-Sydney-Melbourne.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
