Thought I would give this event some profile, so here are the details: http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2017-02-08/2017-family-day-at-luna-park

Gates open @ 9.00 am.  Lots of fun things for kids including free rides until 11.00am!

Lots of chances for selfies with players for adults:cool:!!

Hopefully, it will give also a boost to our membership numbers.

Can I urge the men that crowd around the players to let the kids have clear access to their heroes.

It's off putting to see grown men milling around and jostling to get up close and personal with the stars.

They already have our hearts and minds (and money).

It's all about brain washing the next generation.

i've been several times and I wonder why on earth you would want a signature for except to sell it.

I was hoping for a different venue this year. Last year was packed, lines for rides were very long.

Very un family friendly for me with 3 kids under 8. I think with the positive outlook alot of us have going into 2017 and already record membership numbers that it will be even busier this year. Unfortunately for these reasons I wont be going.

Signatures!?? what are those. I didn't happen unless these is photographic evidence .

Grown men in one size too small jumpers trying to get selfies with 20 something footy players is a sight both funny and sad at the same time

My 6 year old has really enjoyed the last few years, but it wouldn't take too many more people turning up to make it a really uncomfortable day. The rides are great in theory, but it is a hard place to get around and the queues are getting longer each year.

The club really need to think about an alternative location, or perhaps opening the gates a bit earlier, if it keeps getting more popular.

I'm more worried about my wife crowding the players Biffin! My 6 pack hasn't been seen since 2001!

Bring back the days when they had it at the Caulfield races!

My aunty fought me for eyelines when Todd Viney was nuding up for the fans.

Different times.

I can understand the benefit of these events for kids and their parents but for mature adults without this raison d'être. Biff explain yourself? Walking distance from your abode or a crush on young footballers?

I remember going to quite a few of these when I was a kid. Built up a nice collection of signatures and photos over the years. Most of them were held at the MCG and it was always a great day out. I was never really taken by the club's decision to host them at Luna Park a few years ago.

But really, as Biffen said, it's all about brainwashing and manipulating the next generation while they're still young!

Thinking the same about your post

I find it much easier to push over small children to get to the players at luna park than at goschs as some of the 12 yr olds at training are quite big.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
