Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

One of my favourite players was The Flash who we drafted from the VFL (originally as a rookie).

The club has drafted three players this year from that competition and I hope they can have good AFL careers like his.

Meanwhile, Aaron has taken up a coaching job at Doveton which is not that far from Casey where two of our rookies were recruited from -

Good luck Flash!

Good luck Flash. The 'Duvvy' supporters will be very excited about seeing someone with a full set of teeth. Or any teeth for that matter. I wouldn't necessarily be taking my car to the ground though.

Before "Flash" did his hammy really badly at Etihad years ago he was the fastest player on a footy field i had ever seen.

Those first 2 seasons he played were incredible

He was like a leopard pouncing on opponents. Flash certainly changed the landscape for small forwards. The best ones then became defensive as well as offensive weapons. Exciting to watch.

Yes his tackles from behind in the centre square were worth the admission price alone. Such a shame he didn't play serious finals football in those 2 years (Prelims or GF's)

He's got 5 kids and at least two (but I think 3) are boys. Naturally, all 5 will be playing for Melbourne!

Just on this point, is there a father-daughter rule similar to the father-son rule in the men's competition? And, hopefully, a mother-daughter and a mother-son rule might eventually take hold.

Isnt Alwyn involved as well? Glad I'm too old to play as the 'might' Black Rock footy club is playing Doveton again this year. If they are pulling the boots on they will slaughter teams in the 3rd Div.

We played against Anthony McDonald across a couple of seasons he played in that league and he was well and truly 5 classes above.

A bit like going to Highgate Oval at Crazyburn RTG. I no longer take the Merc.

When I was last there Biffen asked me to catch up with an old friend of his. "long hair, obese, plenty of tatts and a decent mo". I had to admit failure in finding Shazza though because every second sheila fitted that description

Was always funny when we played away at Dovers, a few of the guys came down with the dreaded Doveton "flu". Terrible affliction, usually took hold between training on Thursday night and Friday afternoon/evening, but apparently you came good Saturday late afternoon and were right to hit up the Beauy Sat night.

My recollections of playing Doveton Lions in the junior comp are:

Being punched in the head every time I lead up for a mark by a bloke with a full beard who then did time for murder

Several parents beaten up when we played at their home ground as juniors

Most of their u16 side driving cars to our ground

A general feeling of fear

RtG I must admit I didn't have to much fear most of the time but that was totally misplaced bravado along with having some absolute fearless mongrels on our side to boot.

They were fing savages at times. 2 of the biggest brawls I've seen/been a part of were playing Duffton. Cops and dogs needed on one occasion when fans and players from both sides got involved. Was a not very pleasant experience but generally got the heart racing each time you rolled up against them.

At least you were sporting enough to educate your social inferiors on evading conflict RTG.

Most of those 16 year olds got their cars the honest way - with the baby bonus.

I believe the sporting cultural i landscape is so strong in the area that they refuse all suits but the track suit!!

Soft....try playing coolooroo rovers in the vafa as old boys of a private school

They were reputed to have been ejected from f grade and their team included players taking part in a pentridge day release scheme

I found the spectators more of a risk than the players

My brother who lives in FNQ has told me Flash has been appointed coach of the Carins City Lions. Really great news as Aaron was one of my favorite ever players with us and as a former resident of Carins and follower of Cairns afl i think it will be great for the sport up there.

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the
