I would expect that the entire playing list (well, all bar one) will be out there at Gosch's Paddock at 9.30am for the first official training session of the summer.

Conditions should be perfect for training with clouds early but clearing to a 21 degree maximum.

I wish I could make it out there but at that time, unfortunately and in the words of A B Paterson:

"I am sitting in my dingy little office, where a stingy

Ray of sunlight struggles feebly down between the houses tall ..."

Looking forward to reports from those who can make it out there.

He should be there.

He's a paid employee of an organisation and therefore should be performing his services.

Went past around 8:30am. Rehab or 'other' group out doing running early. Pedro, JKH, Viney, Trenners, T Mac, Hannan, Maynard, King, Vanders. Not pushing it too hard, but Trenners moving at a good clip compared to some of the others in the sprint legs. Legs looking much stronger and more defined. Looks in good shape to me. Hannan a bit bigger in person than that early club photo suggests.

Interesting that your observations are completely different to mine regarding Trengove.

When I was at training the other week, It looked as if nothing had changed bodywise and his lower half was still considerably smaller in comparison to his upper half. His body composition at the moment doesn't look like it allows for speed and power.

I love Trengove as much as any supporter,  but if reports are true that he was asked to take it easy during the off-season and is now being slowly eased into training so to not overload his foot, I find it really difficult to see how and where he will fit into a side that already lacks pace.

I was genuinely hoping that last year was a loading year and that he'd come back for this pre-season noticeably stronger in his glutes and slimmer on top. I understand that pre-season has only just begun, but Trenners needed more work than most to give himself the best possible opportunity of playing regular senior footy. Especially now that we have so many one-paced inside mids.

Still, I wish him well.

vision came to me of Clancy...

That one?

Just watched a tackling activity, two players face each other 10 meters apart, ball thrown to one and he attempts to evade and get past oncoming tackler. Jetta excelled, Max did once, Ollie also good. Most were tackled successfully

Hibberd & T Smith matched up in 1 on 1 'push-off and mark high ball'. Smith held his own and I rate Hibberd

Probably early to tell but how does TSmith look as far as tank/stamina in running?

Tim Smith could be a real smokey this year, super competitive, very good one on one and in the air, and a reliable kick to boot!

In some way i see some similarities with a Redden from the dogs whose name i suddenly cannot recall! Mature age VFL player  drafted in, mid sized key forward, strong mark, good one on one, reliable kick for goal and a good competitor. In some ways both are also old school footballers, the likes of which abound in all local competitions, particularly in regard to the fact they are one position forwards who can be relied on to kick 50 odd goals a year.

Not referring to Redpath are you? Was plodding around in their VFL side before doing really well in the seniors.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
