Yep, AFL players are young and have cash to splash. That said, plenty of uni students, apprentice tradies or factory workers at the same age have done the same thing.

Sure young kids do lots of crazy stuff, i know i did it as well in my time. 

What worries me today is the drugs are so much harder and you have no idea where they come from.

And you are basing that observation on what? As you don't read my posts, I 'll get somebody else to tell you, he has had health issues, which required him to have a couple of days off, he has acquired asthma/hay fever now on medication, today he was doing high speed 400 around the oval after he had participated in some of the drills, his fitness now is fine

Anyone who cares to put themselves forward as a magistrate and suggest tougher sentences for dui is at best an unrealistic prude and at worst a wowser.

It should be .08 for adults as it is in the "outside" world.

Victoria is o heavily policed in the wrong areas already.

Yep, disappointing to hear young Clarry came back out of shape and with poor fitness. He needs to be better than that if he wants to prolong his career.

 

The club including that line in their own press release is definitely an intentional clip to Clarry from the coaches -- lift your game.

Now 'Fang', I don't think the coaches need a press release to give him a clip.

I wouldn't be surprised if Goody was a little annoyed at this being tagged on to the release.

Hopefully this pre-season will be one he learns from and realises what's required of him as an AFL footballer. 

As for his punishment,  I heard somewhere that he couldn't be suspended due to an AFLPA clause. But I would've liked the club to say he will return through the VFL in round one as a punishment, I'd rate the actions from the club as fairly soft. 

But im also not in the know so I'll back the club's decision and direction. Onwards and upwards now.

I'm still none the wiser on the details. Did he blow above zero but below 0.05%, which is an offence for a P-plater but is not driving drunk? Or was he over 0.05%? While the law is clear for a P-Plater, I think the penalty imposed by the club should reflect the specific situation. So, if he was driving with a blood alcohol level above zero but below 0.05%, the penalty seems about right. If he was over 0.05%, then I suspect the penalty should have been tougher.

I'm over this thread, don't know what Oliver blew and don't really care.

If my life was on the line I'd prefer a drunk Oliver, Simon Black, Travis Johnstone or anyone else with proven elite level split second decision making over some obese tom, dick or harry with no reflexes that is sober.

But everyone has to obey the law and Oliver hasn't in this circumstance so let him cop his punishment and let's get on with it.

So am I TPF39 however the increase in the safety of cars over that 45 year period has also made a big difference.

Seat belt legislation had much more influence on this than alcohol.

Roads are better, cars are better, brakes, tyres, steering and signage as well as seat belts, airbags and the fact that cars are now many times lighter than they were.

The fact the we now have an enforceable limit also helps but it is too low and the penalties are high at the very low end of the scale.

Im not advocating that the 70's were better times just that societal reform and govt risk aversion has made it a very different world.

For full DL holders I think we should have a limit of .08 like most of Europe and the US.

We do get babied here in Victoria- the policing state- meanwhile there is an ice epidemic and car jacking has taken off as a suburban past time but the courts are full of  people on low range DD offences and pot charges.
