Danger for a start is an excellent comparison

No they wont his value (assuming no further major injuries) is still quite high,  even with injuries you'd imagine freo would still offer him a massive contract - see JOM

And probably not - depends on salary cap and what we'd offer. Eg pick and player but i wouldn't think so. Our cap space will be tight moving forwaed youd imagine with our young talent.... but who knows i dont know what our tpp is like. There is a chance but i wouldn't think so... but hey u never know

Either way my point remains Freo wont let Fyfe walk

I disagree, but no problems.

I think that if Fyfe had a further injury interupted year in 2017 and Freo finished last or 2nd last, it makes it far less certain. If they were offered pick 2 or 3 as compo, and he wanted out, it would be a no brainer. Going into a strong draft with picks 1/2 or 2/3 with big salary cap space is tempting for trade bait or to pick the best in draft.

Well, well, well. After a two year hiatus, the Riddler has decided to return. Entering the second week of a tumultuous trade period in which we've seen unexpected chess moves and the demise of player loyalty, there are bound to be rumours floating around the airwaves. Will Jordan Lewis arrive? Will the Hibberd deal go through? Is there any truth to the Kurt Tippett murmurings? But fear not, for the Riddler does not deal in speculation. The Riddler only deals in cold, hard, facts. Contained in this Riddle is perhaps the key to the future of the Melbourne Demons. Unlock it, if you dare.

Riddle me this: Which player spreads both butter and his wings, yet remains ocean-bound?

Has anyone mentioned Gary Rohan?

No mention here and no mention on GF day either

Very true, and I doubt he 'may hold the key to our future'.

But he certainly spreads like butter on a good day, as a Swan has wings and is currently ocean bound. Further to that, fits into the guidelines as a free agent next season and plays for an interstate club.

I have no problem with you voicing your opinions

I am not going to join your speculation about hyperthetical situations.

Fyfe is a genuine established star. Ill repeat myself one last time - freo wont let him walk

Trade week is up. So enough of this fiddly forensic CSI b/s trying to uncover the AFL's mysterious butter-wing ocean-bandit. I say we instead switch to Sipowics beast-mode; unmask the Riddler and beat the answer out of him . . .

Might be worth shutting this down earlier next time if old mate Riddler has no intention of at least eventually revealing who he/she was talking about. Has a touch of the flogs about it. I certainly got very little from the thread...

Yes, but it's all about the journey, not the destination!

And if The Riddler does show up on this thread again, it'll be worth it to get the explanation of how the obvious answer to all the clues is "Patrick McKenna". :)

I guess that was my point. The journey was ordinary. Not enough clues. Not enough mystery. Not enough curve balls thrown in. I'd give it about a C-.

They seek him here, they seek him there
Those D'Landers seek him everywhere
Is he in heaven or is he in hell?
That damned elusive Riddler
He meddles with the Trade Week
Popping in and out whenever
Spoiling every lovely prediction
La, what cheek!

No Pat McKenna doesn't fit it.

The Riddler is laughing his head off , thinking how long can I drag these gullible people along for?

Nothing to do with gullibility...it's a bit of harmless fun and exercises for the grey matter.

As long as there is actually an answer, yeah...

Explain how a non sensical riddle with no answer is an excercise for the brain, when no answer exists even well after the trade period has ended?

Not to mention zero contact from the poster who started the thread?

Don't worry DZ I have informed Commissioner Gorden of the problem. He said he knows some people who can deal with the Riddler!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
