I don't have much confidence the Police finding concrete evidence to support Wallis or Elliot's worksafe claims. 

But they may well find sufficient evidence to support Tanner's complaint of 'inappropriate demands and threats'.  

The little guys don't usually win when faced with the might of the big end of town.

EFC have reported it to the Police 'Lucifer'...

I have always been uneasy about the Goodwin-EFC history irrespective of his explanation to the MFC prior to appointment.

The appointment of senior coach is the most important leadership position in a footy club. As such, his track record should be exemplary both in terms of skills and competence for the job but also decision making and ethics.

In any area, you take a risk if you deal with someone with a questionable background. And drugs in sport is just about the most important issue there is today.

"Do you or don't you" involves principles and ethical considerations.

The appointment can always be rationalized.  Similar to contracting ex-EFC players. However, the appointment of the coach is even more important.

Yep...EFC have learnt their lesson, right?  'Must Keep Records' is the new mantra (when it helps against their enemies!)

Maybe, Elliot and Wallis kept their own records, for a rainy day perhaps .  Their alleged 'inappropriate demands and threats' would have to based on something otherwise EFC would not have called in the police...

...watch this space for an early settlement of the 'Worksafe claim'.  EFC don't want copies of records the dogs ate mysteriously turning up on a journo's desk...

lets see, they injected their players with PED's en masse for a full season.  They then had a viral spate of soft tissue injuries that completely gave the game away. This story is THE biggest scandal in the AFL in my lifetime, perhaps in its entire history ...and somehow its all swept away now. The club should have been  suspended for a year.

I think it was Eddie who made a comment along the lines of 'you guys have been behind the players throughout this' and Damon responded with ' I don't think we have been biased in our reporting, it was simply a case that Essendon had a story to tell and we told it, The AFL also had a story to tell and through Caro at The Age and they told  that one'. Of course they all went on to bad Caro, about the only Journo who has seen this for what it is form day one.

Excuse if I am being stupid but I always thought the job of a journo was to report on news, and in doing so present all aspects of the news and then let the reader decide, yet here is a senior editor of the Herald Sun openly saying they did not do that and they consciously chose to report one side a story!

I think you may be under the misapprehension that the Herald Sun is a newspaper. It's actually an AFL paper. It is well known that it sells more papers when it has major AFL stories so mines that territory continuously. Essendon would have known that and used it to its advantage.

I heard that comment too.

Not sure how a newspaper can justify telling just one side of the story. The Age at least has come at it from both sides via Caro and Connolly. The Herald Sun has been a bastion of EFC cheerleading, led by Robbo. It staggers me how that man is the head football writer of a major newspaper.

Crikey Chris! Newspapers exist to sell, well newspapers, and advertising of course. TV news media exist to get high ratings and steer viewers into the next program.

As I said, maybe I was just being stupid, and idealistic, and naive. Although it didn't surprise me that that is what they did at all, just reading any paper now days will tell you that, what surprised me was that he openly admitted it!

They gave thousands of injections and received rebates from Medicare. I am pretty sure this was canvassed during the hearings and it was a clear scam. Dr Reid raised the issue of Medicare claims. The players testified that this was the case and here, Elliott and Wallis allege it again.

So it may be heresay but given the tardiness of worksafe - that didn't even start investigating the matter until 17months AFTER the scandal became public - I am sceptical about government agencies doing their jobs properly when the scandal is a political football

Looks like my posts were very close to the mark re the allegations being known to EFC some time ago, the demands and threats having some substance and that a settlement will be negotiated.  Tim Watson:

“I’ve been aware of this for a while, in as much as I had a conversation with someone at the club and they said, look at some point this may surface,” Watson told SEN...“This is what’s going on, it’s all broken down and there is a threat that they’ll take the information they have to the press...“There’s been a breakdown in the negotiations and then there’s been threats about, OK this is the course of action we will take now, from here on in..." 

Based on that, EFC going to the police seems a red herring.

An interesting time line is evolving:

• Nov 14, 2014 Elliot claims that is when he was asked to arrange a meeting with Gatto.  "In November 2014 I was asked ... to set up a meeting off-site with Mick Gatto, who was an external well-known dispute resolution specialist,'' Elliott alleged.   "The purpose of the meeting was in regard to obtaining information from Shane Charter,.."
• Nov 20, 2014 Gatto says he had tried to sell Carter's story to the media.  Carter wanted $400,000.  No takers. EFC also declined the offer. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/victoria/mick-gatto-says-he-was-enlisted-to-spruik-shane-charters-untold-story-to-media/news-story/90e3281926eac55da82b57d26f6adefd  Gatto doesn't say when he did the spruiking but it is highly likely that his spruiking is what led to EFC asking Elliot to arrange a Gatto meeting.
• The article you quote shows that Salvo arranged such a meeting between EFC reps (including Xavier Campbell) and Carter which appears to have occurred late Nov to early Dec 2014.
• Early December, 2014 Carter refuses to appear at the AFL Tribunal.

Another EFC cover up brewing?

Update:  The HS is reporting Gatto said he was approached by a senior Essendon official but it would be 'unprofessional' to say who (LOL).  So much for Tanner's comment that they did not have 'dealings' with Gatto. 

Elliot's statement is looking more credible.
