Just went to the Collingwood VFL site by chance.

We could perhaps learn a few things from them.

First: Cost of entry is zero for home and away games.

The club run website provides clear and consistent game day reports including quarter by quarter reports

Here's an example:

http://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/news/2016-09-03/vfl-live-qf-v-williamstown-2016

KC and others do a wonderful job updating us on this site and I like the coaches notes on the MFC listed players.

Small thing and an example of what clubs with money can do

Uhm the Pies are rolling in money, it is a stand alone side, they play games at a venue you could walk into for free.

I think you'll find the fixturing reflects a Western Bulldogs / Footscray priority as they are the only club with teams still contending in both competitions (and the WB are playing on Fri night and hence likely to play the following Fri night or Sat if they win through.  A Sat fixturing for Footscray minimises the scheduling / recovery gap differential across their two teams).  With the VFL GF set for Sun, Casey still gets a minimum 7 day break if they make it.  If Melbourne were contending in the AFL finals series as well as Casey, I'm sure we'd want it managed in the same manner.  We must resist the temptation on here of becoming too provincial and paranoid....

The Bulldogs AFL team will be playing in the Saturday prelim if the make it. They pulled out players from their VFL team on Sunday who were in line for selection next week.

I get that I'd be arguing for the opposite if we were still playing in the AFL but I think the VFL should focus on their own comp, and give the Dogs VFL team a 7 day break instead of worrying about the what ifs from the AFL.

As mentioned already there's no way that they could charge for people to watch them play at the ground they kicked Athletics Australia out of.

If you want real-time updates on how Casey are doing game day, either get to the ground (entry is free with a Melbourne Membership),

or follow the Scorps Twitter and/or facebook page for live updates on who's scoring the goals as they happen, and a score/goalscores

and stats breakdown at each change.

You could also tune into Radio 3SER to listen to a lot of the games live.

Not sure how many more outlets to keep informed you'd like...

I have high hopes for ANB when he finally has the chance to play his natural position... hopefully he gets that chance with the Dees.

Totally agree. Poor bugger plays almost exclusively as a mid in the VFL racking up 30+ possessions a week and then is played as a Death Valley forward in the senior team.

Im thinking we are yet to see anything near the best of ANB at AFL level.

ANB gets pushed off the ball/out of position too easily.

Michie's defensive game is deplorable and is the only thing preventing him from being a regular in the 1s.

Williamstown's midfield is easily the best in the VFL. Casey are optimistically hoping to break even in clearances on the weekend and will be using third man up as much as possible.

Apparently.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
