The Hogan deal. Exclusive details will drop here tonight

Salem? he one of a handfull that can kick a ball in our team

at least wait til he has played a full season if you want to trade him.  we would not get a top 10 pick for him now

Reported yesterday on possible trade for Salem. Not sure if it has been reported elsewhere on Demonland. I hope there is nothing in this.

AFL Trade Rumours: Darling, Salem and Clarke

About as credible as the AFL Trade Whisperer. People create AFL Trade websites and twitter accounts and post some carp, knowing that there are many people out there that need their fix of trade rumours. I should know, I'm one of them.

The trade preview article on the AFL website has us bringing in Hibberd and maybe trading Dunn, but otherwise sitting it out.

Sounds very exciting!

Hard to judge Salem because he has not had a good run with illness and injury. He has the skills that we need and is hard at it. Before getting concussed at Casey he looked to be something special. Big mistake to trade.

Wouldn't like it to happen but if a club was to offer a first rounder for Christian I think the club would have to think very hard on it. I love his run and delivery, I guess I do have question marks on his ability to play out a full season and his hunger for the contest. Still, can't see this one happening

It may be the clubs ticket to getting back into the first round this season. Perhaps they see Salem as expendable with Hunt, Melksham, Hibbert and Wagner all capable half backs.

Salem has far more talent than those three, although Hunt offers a point of difference. How bout we trade Melksham instead.

Yeah, I don't see getting back into the first round as being as critical as some on this site seem to. We have our first rounder from this draft and we got him last year and put a year of development into him. Since he is a tall, that was a brilliant move as they typically need far more time to develop. I would rather not see us trading out potentially high end talent that we have put time into for a punt on something new, unless we don't think they will develop further. I don't think that is the case with Salem, I see all sorts of upside when he puts it all together. The thyroid issue is the only thing that bothers me and I'm sure our medical staff are all over that.

Not interested in trading Salem at all. His worth would probably be outside the first round due to the lack of continuity in his career so far, and he has already shown he will be a very good player if he stays on the park.

Exactly, however I would like to see salem play further up the ground and through the midfield. We have some really great half back options and you can even throw in Frosty in that list. But if we have the ability to snap up another potential key position player with this trade then this whole trade period could become interesting with the jesse movement etc. However I'm not interested on restarting with our key positions and putting another 2-3 years into them before they are AFL quality

Why are people surprised re salem? Ive expected him out this year since about round 20. We are lacking currency to make moves and here we have a top 10 pick with obvious quality but injury and occassional form concerns.

If he was playing for GWS and we were chasing we'd be saying its a done deal.

I'd be surprised.  Salem is exactly the type of high skilled mid we need more of.

In fact, calling it now, will not happen.

My exact thoughts, we have a lot of grunt and developing pace but we lack in the highly skilled area. I think Salem is the right type of player to put development and faith in as I can see him changing games in years to come

We've also been linked to Tom Cutler, who seems a likely type and many Brisbane supporters rate in their best 22.  If we can orchestrate a trade of Dunn for Cutler we should make out like bandits.  Josh Watts and Tom Lamb are likely to come pretty cheaply/free.

I think Goodwin's priority will be locking in Hogan and the rest of our young guns rather than trying to attract any other name players (Hibberd aside).

You are kidding ?? One man will not control our destiny!! Particularly one with a "Dodgy" kicking action!!

Nup, trade up and ultra agressively!! No one but no one should be beyond trade!

If we get the mix right AKA Western Bulldogs , we too can win premierships! IMV

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
