Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

It would have been great for our club to get Judd or Dangerfield or buddy just someone who is a star of the comp.

Look I know it won't happen and hopefully we can develop our own but geez it would have been nice.

What premiership did Judd win for Carlton? Have Buddy or Dangerfield won one for Sydney and Geelong yet?

It would have been great to get one of those guys in terms of leadership and that age gap, but I consider the Judd move a fail for Carlton. Dangerfield's dominance just shows how steeply Geelong fall away in the middle after him and Selwood. And Buddy has been a big factor in Sydney's performance, but with a midfield like theirs and the delivery that they produce, most forwards would be performing pretty well in that team.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of this approach. Growing and developing a group together is the best way to have sustained success. A star needs to be cream on the cake.

You can definitely add Ablett to your list above as well.

I think it's clear that landing a star doesn't guarantee success. Look at Geelong and Hawthorn, the two most successful sides in recent memory. They developed extremely strong lists through savvy drafting and trading, and developing their own gun players. Sydney too, before Buddy/Tippett. And now the Dogs have done the same.

It's what we need to do (and are doing), and for that reason I don't think we'll be trading in anyone bigger than Hibberd, who will be a great recruit regardless.

Marty Pask (Lynden Dunn's manager) was just on trade radio.

Quick recap (although it's not much we don't already know)

- Dunn still has one year left on his contract but is open to a move.

- Brisbane are interested and the ideal suitor

- Considering the potential of a move interstate, Dunn is ideally looking at a two year deal.

- Brisbane still need to appoint a new coach, therefore nothing is guaranteed.

I find this comment a bit funny from his manager, how can the Lions be willing to shop around Hanley and Rockliff but aren't willing to commit to a short term, low money contract for Dunn.

I don't recall saying it will "guarantee success" Mauriesy.

My point was it would be nice for a "star" of the comp to select us to be traded too.

It may be the other way. Maybe Dunn doesn't want to commit until he knows who the coach is, if Brisbane were to appoint Neeld for instance then Dunn may not want to go.

And just imagine how Geelong will go next year if Dangerfield doesn't have another outstanding, injury-free season. Given how dominant and consistent Dangerfield was all year and they still couldn't get to a prelim, if he drops off at all next year, they could well miss the 8.

Yep Dangerfield injured and we are odds on to get within 5 goals of them at Geelong

Consider this last statement irrelevant. Chris Fagen is about to be announced as the Brisbane coach.

Seems almost like they just wanted someone from Hawthorn.  Ill be shocked if he works out for them.  Good chance it will be Neeld 2.0

You obviously don't know Chris Fagan.  He mightn't be a wonderful success, who knows, but he's nothing like Mark Neeld.

Boyd did pretty well on Saturday. Burgoyne has been handy for the Hawks. Luke Ball for the Pies. There's more stars in the game than those 3 guys, and it's not always either/or.

Someone is getting it wrong, as with most footy news.

I don't imagine them putting it all over the AFL website if the Lions hadn't confirmed it to them, so i'd say RIcho needs a new source.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
