FA & Trade Whispers

Have been reading all of these pages with great interest, and finally found a reason to post, as I don't do it too often.

if the FD or any serious Melbourne supporter even thinks that Xavier RICHARDS is an option to take the field, or even be on our list, I am hoping they haven't seen him play and are guessing he might be ok cos his brother was.

i will happily be proven wrong over the next few years, but for him to ask for a trade is quite amusing, as I would be surprised if anybody wants him.

if we brought him in, I will honestly never have any faith in the FD again, that's how poor a player I think he is!

not sure if I have been strong enough with my opinion there or not???

Trade show on Fox said he had not been offered a contract by Swans. They also don't think much of him, yet he made their GF side. Maybe we could get them interested in Garland.

Well they have lost Frost, Brown and Marsh and the last forward they got from us, is one of their best players, down back.

They would probably offer us the pick they get for Cloke, pick 197.

They could be desperate... which would be good for us.

Don't think they have any good picks and they need to get two father son players, so what would they offer but the Cloke pick, or their last pick, whichever is worse.

Had hoped he might be part of the ( you know who ) deal, but at worst,  could lead to a pick upgrade with the Lions, say 29 to their 21.

I would have Dunne in front of that lot anyway. He has been great for us and still playing good football. A lot of posters on here have forgotten that.

They can Have Garland, not Dunn, unless they cough up something of value, or take Lumumba and Kennedy back.

Both aren't worth anymore then 4th rounders.

Neither playing AFL - neither have any trade value except depth and salary cap space

maybe not but we are trying to trade them to collingwood who has a history of trying to bend us over and screw us, so it would be nice to get one over them.

There is a reason why a player who just played in their GF isn't offered a contract. If they rated him, they would work something  out you would think.

i would prefer to keep garland, as they will both be playing at casey all year, and garland has been a leader at the club.

that being said, I would be happy not to have either!

I didn't mean swapping Richards for Garland, just that if they lose Richards, that maybe we could get them interested in Garland. They took Laidler and improved him at his 3rd club.

Realistically they would have no interest though.

Pretty good that we will get Lewis and Hibberd this trade period. Especially since we only thought we would get Hibb.

If we somehow managed to get Rockliff, things would get pretty exciting for 2017.

OMG! Would that make us a 'destination club'?

According to some on this thread a few weeks ago (not you qaroks), we are most definitely NOT a destination club. Flat out said we were not.

If Hibberd and Lewis land at the Dees, are we officially one of the 'destination clubs'?

Or do we need to land a big fish, like one of those kneeless mids from GWS that struggle to get on the park?

I think we are now a "destination club" after the Lewis trade. it looks like we have a chance to get right up there over the next few years and have a dreaded "premiership window" - while some of the other clubs are dropping back like North, and maybe even the Hawks.

We might see a few more players like Lewis try and speak with the Dees to jump on board if 2017 goes well.

As for landing a big player, I am more keen on landing a quality player at the right price. If we somehow did get Rocky, for effectively a second round pick, and the Lions paid a chunk of his pay ... that would be amazing.

We have such a good bunch of young players who could be major stars, we don't need to go crazy and pay overs for a Fyfe etc. Keep the team together and add quality if it comes along.

Very optimistic. I think Pick 62 in a three way trade with CG/Filth would be about as good as we could get.

They are the second home of unwanted Giants. Top of the beanstork.

LOL

They did a similar trade last season or the one before, and all the players they got ended up sucking

    THE CAVALRY ARRIVES by Megg

The injury plague which has beset the Demons 2024 campaign is finally starting to dissipate and with consecutive wins over GWS Giants and a 2-point nail-biter in Adelade, a sense of optimism is rising.  Some commentators are now asking whether the Dees can make finals? A huge surprise with team selection this week when it was announced that champs Olivia Purcell, Paxy Paxman and Eden Zanker would play.   Hallelujah!  The cavalry has arrived. St Kilda missed the finals last season on pe

    GOLDIE'S METTLE by Meggs

On a perfect night for football at the home of the Redlegs, Norwood Oval, it was the visiting underdogs Melbourne who led all night and hung on to prevail in a 2-point nail-biter. In the previous round St Kilda had made it a tough physical game to help restrict Adelaide from scoring and so Mick Stinear set a similar strategy for his team. To win it would require every player to do their bit on the field plus a little bit of luck.  Fifty game milestoner Sinead Goldrick epitomised

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.
