Hartlett to Demons

Pick 24 GCFC to Demons

Pick 6 MFC to Suns

Howe to Suns

Dixon to Port Adelaide

Just wanted to bump this from a few pages back for those who might have missed it, because it's such a good solid proposal.

It's a genuine win-win-win - all 3 clubs get what they want, while giving up something that they are either gonna lose anyway (Dixon, Howe) or can live without in order to get a bigger prize (Hartlett, and to some degree Howe).

* We get Hartlett & ND24 and lose Howe & ND6.

* Port get Dixon & lose Hartlett.

* GCS get Howe & ND6 and lose Dixon & ND24.

And I'm assuming that as Prestia is said to be "seeing out his contract", we'll pick him up next year not this year.

Im not 100% au fait with the values ..but the dynamics of the merry- go-round seem to work but for me its too dear

A pick of around 1-12 ought to get Hartlett to us... this deal costs us 6 and Howe for HH and 24...thats far too much imho

Deal is perfect.

Everyone wins.

Effectively we give #6 for Hartlett. We get pick 24 for Howe. That's fair currency.

Hartlett walks in as a Top 5 player to MFC ... and remember Howe's 2015 was average at best. An early 2nd rounder is fair.

I prefer my merry go round SONS...in so far as we'd end up with potentially 2 very good mids..albeit no picks

. I dont mind that Pick 24 ?? whats that worth in this draft ? Not a lot Id say

I see your point, they're definitely not bargains.

But I think they're still pretty solid as individual trades - HH for 6 & then 24 for Howe do pinch a bit.

If we could then get, say, Hrovat (not Melksham) for 24, we've given our midfield a major boost for the next few years.

please... I like the idea within SONS trade...much merit.. just for me , possibly a price either too high..or there might be the idea/opportunity that a side trade goes wanting . Otherwise theryre all reasonable ideas I should think. Not all dis-similar in a way..maybe details

Our illustroius FD have proven rather eot of late in pulling rabbits out of hats so Im intrigued (as we all are I supsect ) as to what magic wil lbe conjured this time around :)

I thought this from Generation Dee on the other thread might bear repeating here , hope not being too presumptive :)

Sorry for the typoday all. This is a very drunken message from bali. But I will tell you what I heard tonight. Ollie wines had his heart set on coming to Melbourne. Todd viney rang him 2 days our from the draft to tell him we were not going to pick him. Basically was told we wanted to pick him but we're not sure if we could let Toumpas slide. Ollie was gutted at the time amd for 18 months after. He won't leave port for anyone now as in his words it turned out for the best for him. I can not answer if it was Todd or neeld who said let him slide, my understanding is it was neeld as Todd called Ollie to tell him prior to the draft. The rumour out of port adelaide is they do not expect Hamish hartlett to play there in 2016. He didn't turn up for the footy trip, apparently we offered a huge deal amd if it isn't us, it is sydney.

Ollie knows Jimmy Toumpas from underage level and he said Jimmy will be a seasoned afl player. As much as he initially hated not being picked by us, he understands that politics played there part, but I gathered that he won't leave port adelaide period. To.orrow the melbourne players arrive,
Sorry for typo. I'm drunk. But that's all I can give for now "

Just out of interest, apart from the comments attributed to Caro and those of an inebriated Generation Dee, has there been any confirmation from elsewhere that Port Adelaide is putting Hartlett up for trade bait?

I was going to say the same thing WJ. There has been nothing at all outside of Caro to suggest there is any legs to this rumour. I hope there is, but there isn't too much to it at the moment.

People who consume mushrooms in bali wake up three days later naked in a cold cell being forced to pay a bribe. Chang the bribe to a contract and maybe we could shout Danger a flight to Bali?

I'm gonna try and hold my excitement until someone with some credibility come out and says its being discussed. So far all we have is dear old Demonland spawn 7 pages of speculation off very little more than a single unsubstantiated sentence.

I love this time of year.

This time of year?! It's still finals ffs hahahha.

Possibly not. My friends in Adelaide are all but Crows supporters..Only Port devotee is only good for deliberations on Para v Hoffmans v ....

Still that said , and given the Silly season proper hasn't been heralded in just yet there are jungle drums banging away. They go more to the idea of who WON'T be shifted from PA... leaves us mortals to wonder...that's all really :)

Take it for what it's worth, but a PA supporter on BF thinks that Caro's mail on things happening at Alberton are pretty much on the money.

She is generally on the money with the rumours she puts out there.

I'm interested to see if she elaborates on it on Footy Classified tonight.

Negativity Negativity Negativity

Bernie Vince ,Jeff Garlett, Lumumba and Dawes came to Melbourne so why not?

We have a stable coaching structure and a great bunch of young kids led by guys by Hogan and Brayshaw.

We also have plenty of money.

You are a perfect example of the type of poster on here that struggle to READ and interpret at a basic level. Bernie Vince (2013), Garlett, Lumumba and Dawes have nothing to do with the sort of player my entire post was talking about. I don't even know why I bother on here anymore. You basically read my post and then decided to talk about a complete set of different players.

Also, how on earth is it negativity? It is pure fact. Look where the big players go in recent history. We will have to pay up big. I am hopeful as hell, but be realistic people.

It's negativity because you were saying that no one wants to come to Melbourne .

What if we land someone in this period who wants to come to Melbourne, and is a contracted player?

You are a perfect example of a hopeless supporter who revels in shooting those with a little hope of what may come for their beloved team down in flames and sink the boots in.

I'm sorry but I'm not the type to get pleasure from that sort of behaviour and would rather talk up the team I love.

Well if Danger leaves for the Cats, the Crows will have ample space in the cap (like us), but will only be a short trip down the road (unlike us).

Not necessarily. If the Crows match Geelong's offer as expected, there could be a long drawn out trade negotiation, and the Crows would have to factor in Danger's salary until the trade is done. Can't see how they could sign Hartlett until the Danger trade is completed.

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
