Dimma should be sacked but won't be.

Not sure who the Lions are going to get but they need a bloody good coach.

when does the "time to go Simon Goodwin" thread start?

I'd be surprised if any other coaches are sacked this year. But 2017 looks like a potential vintage year for sackings with all of Buckley, Hardwick, Lyon, Hinkley, B Scott and Eade all facing problems if their teams don't show improvement.

Hinkley has gone from hero to zero pretty damn quick. Seems as though he doesn't have anymore tools in his belt apart from creating the game plan that centred around Port's lightening quick ball movement, which got them close to a snatching a flag... and then everyone else caught up.

Only because he didn't go in to the club today, i reckon he knew it was xcoming.

I like Hinkley when I've heard him interviewed, but can't help thinking that Walsh and Richardson might have been keys to their success.

Paul Roos?

Get rid of him. It's clear the players are not responding to him anymore !!!

The longer Richmond and Collingwood keep Hardwick and Buckley, the longer they'll languish. Give them both 10 year deals!

Dont sack Buckley yet. He hasnt quite finished the job.

Wait for the speculation on whether or not Brisbane will approach Paul "The Fixer" Roos.

I would say there is absolutely no chance he will coach again next season. After that, who knows.

Brisbane's Board and management wouldn't be doing their job if they didn't at least make a call to Roos or his manager to see whether he has any interest. I would expect him to say 'no', though.

and i reckon these sorts of calls would have been happening for a while, i reckon even if the decision to sack leppa wasn't 100% set in stone most clubs that are a little unsure where they're at would be seeing what's out there basically every year.

For what it's worth i think David Noble or Simon Lloyd would be a good choice with a couple of really good development coaches.

Yes, you'd like to think that before any Board decided to sack a coach that they had had a look at the market of potentially available coaches to see who out there might be better than the incumbent.

Dennis Pagan would be my choice. I think he's got some pretty similar credentials to Roos and given the Lions require what the MFC have received, they should seriously consider him.

Referencing Lions vacancy.

Not sure a 69 year old (69 next month) who hasn't coached for nearly a decade and whose last appointment as coach was a failure would be my choice.

Wouldn't have been hard for Bob Sharpless or Greg Swann to have paid him a personal visit. Completely tactless and bad form IMO.

And the players were told via email. Wonder if there will be a few wanting out.

There would have to be players wanting out as quick as possible,

I see your point regarding the house visit, poor form all round, surely Leppa could have gone in to face the music if he knew it was coming

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
