Great win. Great to be there and see our baby Demons gaining in confidence. Some fantastic signs. Wonderful last Q sitting amongst the silent Port fans. A quick get away after the siren.

You didn't think of quoting any Shakespeare on the way out Ernie, like "Watts in a name" etc, etc.

Also, it must be said:

We have had an unbelievvvvvvvable run without injury. We just keep getting through games completely unscathed.

I don't remember a year like it.

This.

I've read a gameday thread once in 14 years and it was this year.  Still don't know why.

Why are people posting when the game is on ?

The Dees are probably not as concerned with Hogan's form or whether he chooses to leave. Surely with our improvement he wants to stay with the club.

Agreed. The club has done all it could to sell itself but it's a two way street. I'm a big fan but he does need to be careful that he doesn't become the Incredible Sulk.

The beauty of us winning is the likes of Hogan won't keep us to a ransom. If Hogan leaves we may get Cam McCarthy

It's fair to say we'd want McCarthy, a mid and a draft pick

Geez Doc......He is a 20 year old playing in his second full season of footy.....He had a great year last year and has kicked nearly 40 goals this year......He is not our only option up forward now as the emergence of other forwards progresses.   Our expectations grew as a result of last year.

How about we just give the kid a break.

It's a hard old game this footy caper ....you can't expect all the players in the side to play blinders, just be thankful that we are winning when a few stars have off days.

Not that it makes much difference to your point, but for the purpose of accuracy, Jesse is 21, born January 1995. He's been with us since 2013 when he was only permitted to play in the VFL.

I was surprised to see that he has kicked 39 goals in 18 games this year. What's even more surprising is that in the last 4 rounds in which he has played, he has kicked just the one goal, (against St. Kilda).

And no beard either! Although Saty's beard isn't quite as spectacular as it used to be!

It was a good win but gee we had a lot of players who were down and our kicking for goal was atrocious. It's always hard to win on the road and we should savour it but it was far from a complete performance.

I did like the way we weren't playing that well in the second half but kept up the pressure.

The situation is not too different from '87.

We are a young team on the rise in the last half, hoping for wins we can and can't control ,to give us the last available finals spot on %.

There is a core of talent in this team that look more gifted than '87.

We had Newport,Lyon,Rigoni,Lovett ,Lovell,Flower,Stynes,O'Dwyer ,Hughes ,Viney,Stretch ,Johnson and Yeats who were all solid but Lyon seemed like the only real star(and Robbie) who was bandaged up like a rag doll.Stinga was injured from memory.

And in both years, assuming we do the Blues and North do the right thing,it will come down to a game at the Cattery.

Geelong will not want to rest too many against us as the top teams have done previously before finals.Even if they do -bring it on.

I'm not going to make predictions but the list available and fit this time in ,is superior to what took us to a within a kick of a GF appearance in '87 and I think most of the over 40's will agree.

If we do get to a Prelim, say against Hawthorn, and Sam Mitchell runs in to the protected zone, giving away 50m to give Max a shot from 40 in front, kicks it and kisses the 11 and we do go to the GF I will be quite happy.

But I'm not getting ahead of myself.

I think you'll find this rule doesn't apply to Hawthorn Biff. Case in point, have a look at the 2nd last mark in their game vs Norf.

It wasn't the perfect win it could have been if we had nailed some of our easy shots on goal and or not let them back in the game 3rd quarter (and sorry for saying this if I'm repeating others), but those last two goals to Garlett and Jones in particular were some nice icing on the cake.  Jones goal was the sort of goal where the siren normally goes for us the second before he kicks it!!

Picked up on something at the end of the third quarter. After the mini brawl, VDB went to calm Hogan down (as the team was proceeding to huddle) causing Jesse to shove VDB twice. Anything in it?

Yes. It means they're both going to Freo. It's like a secret handshake.

Loved Brayshaw's goal on the left.  It showed a level of class not many players have.

Yep. And you just knew he'd wheel onto his left too, but could tell the Port bloke didn't expect it. Gun. Such a damaging player.

I know I'm only new here but some of you people properly need psychological help. We beat port in Adelaide by 40 points. And you still find s**t to complain about? Just enjoy it!? I'd let it annoy me but I know there's nothing I can do to fix those people. They'd probably complain about having to drink warm water if they were stuck in the desert.

But seriously... how about us!!?? Ive suffered through supporting this team for much of my life because I knew how much sweeter it would make it when we started winning. It's like doing fifty star jumps in a ski jacket on a 45 degree day just to make jumping in the ocean feel even better. And jeeeeeez does that water feel nice.

I hear you brother - up to a point.

Was a good win and whilst I certainly savored the moment for what it was, I was also left feeling a little let down, because it could have been so much more.

With some of the mistakes we made, we wouldn't have beaten a good team last night and in our current circumstances I would have really loved a 60 to 80 point win to help bridge the % gap North have on us.  On the other hand, I was glad to come away with a win that even earlier this year we could have thrown away.  I guess like others have stated, progress not perfection.

But otherwise looking forward to jumping in the ocean!!

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
