The Ox would have to have one of the worst football brains in the football media.

And a lamentable history of making bad bets.

When brain transplants become feasible, only then could we consider someone like Vickery.

Although Vickery is a free agent, it is a no for me. Rationale:

I understand he is not a traditional second ruck/forward, but I think we already have the best player for Vickery's position in the AFL in Jack Watts. Watts has averaged 17.9 disposals, 7.0 marks, 1.7 goals, 3.2 hit outs and 93.8 Supercoach points since round 9 (when Pedersen was out of the team). While Watts is often beaten in the hit outs, he is very good at wining the clearances when the ball hits the deck and offers a more mobile option around the ground.

Pedersen is far better both as a forward and as a back up ruck.

Watts  is far better both as a forward and as a back up ruck.

Dawes  is almost better  as a forward though not  as a back up ruck.

Hulett  could well become better both as a forward and as a back up ruck.

So what would be his rôle?

NO

Oh shut up Daisy, we don't all lead the exciting life that you do and this is entertaining for some of us, who have more ordinary mundane lives.

huh? i've shut up since 1/8/2016, 11 days ago and now you tell me to shut up. i know the legal profession is always behind the times but sheesh

Does he improve our list? Probably not. Pedo is our KPF depth.

Are we better off giving a shot to a young draftee or state league player? Probably yes.

Pass.

Interesting to see Vickery has been omitted this week. Keeping him in cotton wool for a trade?

Yep, they dont want to jeopardise that late 4th rounder they are chasing.

Smart move.

They might need that 4th rounder to get Cloke. All part of their 2017 premiership plan

If Vickery came cheap then why not. We have no back up if Gawn goes down

Perhaps we can engineer a 3 way trade with Collingwood and Richmond where we end up with Vykery and Jesse White. They will provide enormous comedy value and we could offer Terlich and a late pick.

Vickery is a Restricted Free Agent.  ie no trade required - he comes free!

Richmond know he has a good deal on the table so they have put him on ice to protect their FA compensation pick from the AFL.

I wouldn't be surprised if they got an early 2nd rnd pick from the AFL.  Given they don't have a 2nd rnd pick it will come in very handy.

Even for free, I wouldn't take him.  He might be handy right now but don't see a permanent role in our team.

And with Vickery, we'll still have no back up for Gawn if he goes down.

A thousand times no. I'd rather have Declan Keilty.

Agree About Keilty

Any club taking Vickery would have to have a clause making him shave his head

Then maybe we are looking at him. He's by no means the complete hack many on here believe he is

Touche

I'd certainly take Vickery over Daw but yes he would have to get a haircut

Bit over an overstatement considering it's only the third worst at their club. (Hello Ivan and Dusty)

I'd like to lend my voice to the naysayers.

I have no interest in this pea-hearted gimp.

Tigers suggesting Vickery has done a deal with another club. He will finish his season in the VFL.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
