POST MATCH DISCUSSION - Round 13

Its a long cold train trip home on this miserable sydney day.

My take today was a premier defence versus a mediocre backline.

Clearly without the gawn factor we cant win so the wet definately suited sydney.

The hogan factor is missing in the wet as well.

Not sure what has happened to vanders....he used to be twice the player of late.

On the positive Petracca is going to be a star for us.

I suppose that its a game of structures but why not put bigger bodies in the middle? Hogan, dawes, Vandenberg would have been helpful in the middle against our bigger stronger opponents. I thought that hunt and wagner were good. Im expecting oscar to be better than his brother when their careers are done.

Bang on as usual WYL. We're just as bad as we were in the 4 win 2014 season.

I just want the team to take the next jump. It continues to not do so...

a 9 goal loss in those conditions is horrible

but i am sure many will use the "Kids" excuse again.

No leadership apart from Bernie & even he lost it

forget the 8.

R

the game now is to finish above 12th so that we 'win' the trade with gc17 in terms of 'points value' to bring in oliver / weideman last year instead of having a first round pick this year.

Ithink the eight was gone after dons loss and cemented by port game.

The 8 I Reckon IS sealed.

We will be there next year....iM sure of IT.

One thing, i really loved Hunts run and carry......

Already 10 games into what I think will be a long career with the Demons. I love what he's been doing this year. Would like to see him pick up a rising star nomination by years end.

Sydney 155 tackles, most in a game ever, thats more than 1 per minute.

And at least half of them might have been against an opponent with the ball!

Loose man in defence and too minch handballing put us on the back foot from the start.

Someone predicted our handball happy style would work against us In the match day thread this morning

Sometimes all you can do is laugh.

Good advice ET. And it's easier to do it with a Red or a Kilkenny. Maybe a Kilkenny.

Not much to analyze

Swans had structure whilst we had no idea what to do...

What i didnt like is that we just seemed to play the same from beginning to end and didnt change things up as the match progressed. Hope Goodwin addresses such issues next year.

Shame about the last quarter.

But anyone surprised about a young side running out of legs after a 6 day break playing the best contested team in the league in the wet at home and gunning for top spot needs to step away from the keyboard.

We're not there yet.

im afraid this will become more common in the 2nd half of the season with such a young squad

A 10 goal drubbing in the wet means a few put the cue in the rack.  But when one remembers we're the youngest and most inexperienced running around it gives some reason to the performance.  Young teams find it hard to run out games in the wet.  That's not an excuse that's fact.

I liked my boy Wattsy's game again.  Twice now he's been good in the wet, which is exceedingly unlike Jack.  He really has improved his contested footy.

I can't believe some posters potting Hogan.  It's BS that he gave no second efforts.  Conditions couldn't be worse for a hulking key forward like Hogan, but he finished with 17 disposals and 5 marks while competing in the air all day.  Any idea how tiring is to do that in the wet ?

Exactly. The entire FD had no idea what to do, so did nothing

very concerning in Roosy's final year

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
