POST MATCH DISCUSSION - Round 12

Called it at 5am. Max Gawn best ruxkman in the league. Struggled to pick a name to stand up before the game and a team effort burried the pies.

Look out GWS next year is ours

Fantastic stuff.  Some will lament some poor decision making at times, and we turned it over a little, but the intent and willingness of the players to run hard was simply fantastic.  This is not a fickle and soft club anymore.

Gawn was immense and the midfield smashed theirs.  Kennedy responded superbly and our backline was fantastic.  They make the odd mistake but the kids were alright today.  When the press works it works VERY well.

Our forward line was great as well.  Kent had a ripper, Hogan got 3, Dawes worked his backside off and Petracca... well... this kid is going to be something.

And the cherry on the top?  Sticking it up the Pies!

It's a grand old flag. I need to apologise to my students for my total lack of interest in anything they have been doing. I just don't understand why the Queen's birthday is not a holiday in China.

GO DEES!

Here we go, here we go!

Watching how debilitated the Rev has become due to his illness almost made me cry. Defeat the beast.

Gawn just...just...brownlow material

Dawes' mark on the hb line before our run of goals was the catalyst to our ascendancy, funnily enough. He was great.

Watts' game was closure to his horrid debut. I'm very proud that he is a Demon.

I'm now convinced that the Frost-as-forward experiment was a part of his development as a defender. He was fantastic at moments and so too were Hunt and Wagner.

Petracca just gets better and better.

Trenners' mark and goal!

Go you mighty Demons!

Edit: congrats Nasher! Please go to more games.

I got a bit worried late in the third quarter, when we repeatedly turned over the ball coming through half forward, with no pressure on the player kicking. But Collingwood are sooooo bad, they couldn't capitalise.

Apart from this hiccup, we simply out played, out tackled, out pressured and out marked them. Even when we made errors, and we made some shockers, our players charged back in and made it difficult for the Pies to get forward. We were bloody ferocious at the contest, and how good was our pack marking - brilliant.

Sorry I can't join the party most teams would have belted the pies by 10 goals.  Oscar was passable but should still be at Casey - he gave away 2 goals.  Jetta, Stretch & VDB were barely adequate.  Frost & Tom McD were lucky the Pies kicking for goal was poor.  Hogan dropped 3 chest marks.  Trengove is just going.  Lucky for us Watts, Max & Bernie had huge games & the Pies were missing a few players.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
