Scully was dishonerable about the way he did business, Promised Jimmy Stynes Yadda Yadda and then left.

At this piont I really beleive we need to play a bit of hard ball with Jesse and his manager.

I just have a feeling in my gut that he wil go!

I think we set a very short time line and say, Well u can see whats on offer, are u in or out!!?????

If he hedges I would be very tempted to be ruthless and Say..

Well Jesse, you have one year of your contract left and we.. will trade you for what's in the best interest of the MFC.

If you believe then what's stopping you?? Sign or ,we will see what we can get, cut our losses and move on!

Time to get very business like and not be seen as cap in hand!!

For some reason I have a gut feeling that he will decide to go as well. In which case the MFC will have to broker a deal that best compensates our club.

I just hope we don't cave and take anything less than what GWS got for the Treloar trade. If we're looking at picks alone it's would be say a pick 3 and say pick 7.  Then we have to face the prospect of three years development and the risk of picking up a dud.

Acquiring Hogan at his age is hardly going against Freo's rebuild philosophy. Hogan could be a one in a generation player. You really think they'd pass up on him for an unproven high draft pick and a handy player?

I don't disagree with that. My point is that he will cost an awful lot and that will potentially add years to their rebuild.

And a player who is tempted is a player who will not be in the right frame of mind to give his best! I think its time to force his and managers hand! Declare allegiance or we will decide for you! Time for MFC to grow some gonads with List management!!!

Lots of different perspectives on Jesse's situation on this thread, which is great. Why some posters feel they need to re-state their view over and over again, I'm not sure.

Do you want me to go back to the typewriter "Clark"??

it "might" pan out that way, depending what you mean by "cheap", but all i'm saying is don't just assume it.

I'm not assuming it.

I'm expecting it.

ok, define cheap then. 2nd round? 3rd round? trade?

I'm expecting it because Freo don't hold a second round pick at this stage. I'm sure GWS would be looking at that range so trading of players is a possibility with a third.

For Hogan

Eagles ... Gaff and their pick 12 (draft 2016)

Freo ... pick 3 (draft 2016) and 1st round pick in 2017 draft

Gaff and pick 12.  We'd be ripped off big time but maybe that's the best sort of deal we can accept.

Much prefer the Freo option you've put forward.

Serious question Cards, does he get called purple because his face resembles the head of a penis while the shaft is being strangled?

If one imagines Damian in the throes of  verbal exchange and young Damian vehemently flogging his point, I think one may have a clear image.

norm, you do realise that for freo to do that they would have to trade in a 1st round pick from another club in 2016,2017 or 2018 in order to satisfy the afl's 2 first round drafts in 4 years rule. it's doable but very risky (and costly)

i don't think i'd enjoy imagining purple "flogging his point". i'll leave that sort of imagination up to uncle bitters

This sucks. How come there's always so much speculation with Melbourne players from Scully, Frawley and now Hogan. Many other clubs don't cop this stuff year after year like us.

We keep losing our star players. Waiting for the day when a big name nominates us.

Totally agree. It bloody sucks.

The Age article smells like the typical berley that a player manager or club throws out to fingerlings like the Dees when everything is cut and dried behind the scenes. The Only good that has come out of this constant yearlong speculation is the revelation that Jess Hogan is an almost useless kick for goal. So i say, let it bleed.

    THE CAVALRY ARRIVES by Megg

The injury plague which has beset the Demons 2024 campaign is finally starting to dissipate and with consecutive wins over GWS Giants and a 2-point nail-biter in Adelade, a sense of optimism is rising.  Some commentators are now asking whether the Dees can make finals? A huge surprise with team selection this week when it was announced that champs Olivia Purcell, Paxy Paxman and Eden Zanker would play.   Hallelujah!  The cavalry has arrived. St Kilda missed the finals last season on pe

    GOLDIE'S METTLE by Meggs

On a perfect night for football at the home of the Redlegs, Norwood Oval, it was the visiting underdogs Melbourne who led all night and hung on to prevail in a 2-point nail-biter. In the previous round St Kilda had made it a tough physical game to help restrict Adelaide from scoring and so Mick Stinear set a similar strategy for his team. To win it would require every player to do their bit on the field plus a little bit of luck.  Fifty game milestoner Sinead Goldrick epitomised

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.
