I'd still rather Tracca played VFL for 3 weeks then debuted against St Kilda. Makes no sense to play him after we came out during the week saying we weren't going to rush him; we'd be as bad as Richmond rushing in an underdone Deledio.

It's not a thread about the footy show without people telling you they don't watch it, or they hate it, or how much they hate it.

Btw, i don't watch the footy show. It sucks :P

Didn't say much interesting. Petracca "probably won't play" but it all depends on Garlett.

Is going to Hawaii at the end of the season, won't be coaching next year.

Wants the Anzac Eve fixture permanently for Dees and Tigers.

Doesn't care how stupid Gawn's beard looks if he keeps playing like he is.

Oliver being rested because Angus showed them last year that overplaying kids is a bad idea.

I did watch it, first time this year.  The above pretty much sums things up.  He said there were a bunch who were doing well at Casey, they didn't want to mess too much with a winning team, so minimal changes.

The panel were generally tipping the Dees to win.  As one of them said, they're just playing too well right now.

The only other thing of note on the show was the interview with Alex Rance.  One, he presents really well.  Two, he was plugging an eatery which I assume is affiliated with the RFC, but some of the food they had on the table next to him looked pretty damn nice.  Anyone catch the name of the place?

I didn't watch it... but it was San Antone at Crown. It did look tasty.

The Footy Show is garbage television, plain and simple. The only reason it rates is because Australia is full of braindead morons.

And, to think, the NRL Footy Show makes the AFL Footy Show look positively high brow.

and despite paul roos attraction as our coach and as an intelligent and good looking man, I will not be watching. I would rather see a matador gored by a bull than watch!

The one really big thing he said was that Petracca would only play if Garlett doesn't come up, but the club is expecting Jeffy to play, but he's the 23rd man, he's next in line if there is an injury or form drop off.

If Garlett doesn't get through training today then obviously i'd love to see Petracca debut Sunday Night.

If Garlett does get through training and they take a 23rd man on standby in case there's a late change, meaning the 23rd man can't play at Casey, i'd rather them take Neal-Bullen or Garland. Petracca can use all the minutes in his legs he can get.

I think that's exactly what will happen, they'll know on Garlett by midday today, it's as much how he pulls up from Wednesday as how he trains today.

I think it'll be Garland, more miiles in the legs of ANB and Track is important.

I am a bit surprised at how the general tone of the football world seems to have changed in the last month.

Not long ago people ( that includes the football media) used to talk about us in tones that were either completely dismissive, or tones that suggested sympathy for our "patheticness" (my invented word)

Geez its changed lately......... Now serious commentators seem to talk about us with a mixture of surprise and genuine hope.

If we beat the Tiges, and my tip is that we will ( yeah im usually a pessimistic bastard i know ), the tone will change again to " these Dees are the real deal, yes or no ?"

I am gonna PM a certain poster on here for direction on how to properly [censored] oneself if (when) we win on Sunday.

Is this a thread about the interview or a thread for people who are too good to watch the footy show?

Thanks to those who answered my question re the interview. It seems Paul has taken a step back in terms of being the media beacon this year, perhaps a deliberate strategy by him and the club to hand over responsibilities of dealing with the media to those who will be in charge next year. Or maybe he's just sick of them all!

I didn't watch the f/s last night. I read this thread to be enlightened. How smart am I?

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
