Whenever a player is on the skids at a club you start "hearing" things Bin.  Conversely when they are sought after / needed you tend to "hear" the opposite.

I have "heard" things as well about "a player" at our club allegedly saying things on the field that under the scrutiny some are saying should apply here in terms of determining whether to get/keep or not,  would probably see him terminated or rejected in a trade.

I have no idea whether what this player allegedly said on field is true or otherwise but said player will still be running around in 2020.  Probably because he is very much a required player & fan fav (in many cases).  If he wasn't he may well have been traded (assuming what was allegedly said was overheard by MFC officials).

If we were to decide our list based on this sort of behavioral criteria we might end up with a very short list indeed Bin.

All that might be true. But we are not making a call, nor are other fans. Professional recruiting teams are. And atm the evidence is that despite being a two goal a game kpf who can mark has not been picked up. I'm surmising they have more informations than Joe public.

Averages 2 goals a game. Can he kick set shots for goals from inside 40m consistently? If so go get him in my opinion.

The bloke is a dead set liability if the ball hits the ground and he rarely leaves the goal square.

If we get which I REALLY hope we don't I would be happy to eat my words if he can perform but I really cant see him being anything more than a list clogger which could potentially limit Weid's development.

I really dont think he can, would love to get numbers on how many goals he has kicked from 30 meters and beyond.

Wouldn't be too many from the Crows games i have watched.

Like i've previously stated, if he comes cheap and doesn't affect our draft priorities or cap space, it really wouldn't hurt us, surely?

GC I haven’t seen him play much but he is often described as a 200cm flanker not a KPF so I assumed he doesn’t kick all of his 2 goals a game from taking pack marks or manhandling KPB one on one, but just as often when the ball has hit the deck in the forward line. Also being 200cm would give us a ruck support option as well.

Where did this originate? So in seasons 2016 - 2018 he laid 126 tackles in the goalsquare? At a quick glance he had more tackles than Tom McDonald who covers quite a bit of ground.

Year Games Goals Tackles

2014    20    40    27

2015    21    46    28

2016    24    62    46

2017    21    45    52

2018    22    46    61

2019    11    22    18

We can overlook the 2019 season because according to most it doesn’t count for our players so going off his previous five seasons his numbers look alright. I can’t see how having him on board for 2 seasons would hurt us that much.

Any player that has kicked 8 goals in a game of footy whom you can get for close to minimum chips should be warranting some careful consideration over the next 48 hours

Particularly for a side that has one of the worst forward lines in the league

I feel like our administration and coaches are really over rating our forward line.

McDonald - 1 good year

Weid - 3-4 good games

Melksham - solid but no star

Trac - developing into a good player but poor set shot

Fritsch - could be a gun but still has a way to go

Hannan/Vanders - both injury prone

Petty - still very young

I just don't understand how we aren't looking at someone like Jenkins.

I'd prefer to have a few iffy blokes in our squad but still win games.

MFC need to grow a set and put it on the line with these blokes, put it in their contracts.

The whole he isnt a very nice person, so we decided against it, doesn't stack up with you finishes 17th last year.

he'll play for $400k a year (their minimum wage), if hes a screw up, it least Casey will have a goal kicker for next year.

Maybe we finished 17th more because of lack of togetherness and selfless football rather than because of lack of talent.

Jenkins would be a missionary keen for a media career. A self promoter and not exactly a team player. Do you think he'd be happy at Casey? I don't.

I just can't see Jenkins being successful enough to bother. If we want depth then go find someone younger with upside, we found Tim Smith, there has to be a younger version of someone like him out there in the state leagues. If we want someone clearly better than Weideman then make a move for that kind of player.

How do you possibly know that? There is a bloke who can kick multiple goals and has proven he can do it over multiple years, has clearly had a clash of personality with the senior coach (wasn't the only player).

The point I'm trying to get across is, i think he can add value to our forward line, i believe he can kick goals for us to be more competitive, if TMac and Weid come out this season firing, brilliant, Jenkins can play when there is an injury etc.

If our forward line doesn't function again this year, we have no plan B apart from the guys we currently have on our list.

To me that isn't smart planning....

He won't be returning to the Crows.  If you believe some accounts the fall out was apparently mega and he hasn't even been back to clean the locker out.

Which goes exactly to my point that there must be 'cultural' issues at play explaining why there us so little interest for him from other clubs.

As you have noted stuff gets said all the time - but the evidence is pretty clear this goes way past a disgruntled player.

The rumour is extremely strong he leaked info about the crows to the media. Who knows if true but I suspect it is (and I doubt that is the only issue) based on no clubs wanting him, pyke  dropping him repeatedly when in form and there being a physical altertaction between him and pyke.

For what it's worth I think a club, perhaps even the dees, will pick him up late tommorow.

Too good a player for him to sit out football but the main reason is he will be a bargain. The crows will be desperate to off load him as if they can't his salary will go to there cap, so will probably take a third round pick and agree to pay some of his salary.

    HIGHLIGHTS/LOWLIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne traveled across the continent to take on the Fremantle Dockers in sweltering conditions at Mandurah south of Perth in a game that delivered the club both its highlight and its lowlight in the first minute.  But first, let’s start by doing away with the usual cliches used in connection with the game. It was just a practice match and the result didn’t matter. Bad kicking is bad football. The game was played in severe heat, the swirly breeze played havoc with both teams resulting in

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
