MFC injury list - 2016

Our first injury list for the season has us looking in good Nick.

Chris Dawes (calf) 4 weeks
Matt Jones (concussion) test
Ben Newton (ankle) 4 weeks
Christian Salem (finger) available
Jake Spencer (foot) TBC
Aaron vandenBerg (ankle) test

I can't remember an MFC injury list as small as this ever before.

In fact I can't remember an injury list that didn't have at least 1 of our best 22 players on it.  Apologies to Dawes, but I personally have Pederson ahead of him.

Hopefully our luck is turning.

Moderators please close and delete this thread ASAP. I recall talk last year about how good our injury list looked before it all went to hell in a hand basket. I blame DL posters for this.

Let's not make the same mistake this year.

Or perhaps we go all reverse psychology  - wow our injury list is sooo bad. It's not how many are injured it's who is injured.Dawes and Newton are both critical players for the dees - without them we will struggle, particularly Dawes. I mean who else will compete manfully and bring the ball to ground?

Fingers crossed Spencers foot's not too bad. Definitely need him available just for backup if something where to happen to Max. Otherwise we'll be in trouble in that regard. Both Kings aren't ready to take the load if needed.

Hope Salem isn't going to be playing with an injured finger. Can really kill motivation when going to marks with a damaged finger. If it needs surgery then just do it.

I know there are Dawes knockers ( Ha, I like that one!) on this site: I'm not one of them. He plays his guts out when he's on the field and I,for one, am anxious to see him fit and well.

What concerns me is that on the latest Injury List, he's listed as '4 weeks'. By crikey I hope it ain't the 4 weeks Frost was always going to be out for last year.

very concerned about his future in the AFL

According to the training reports his finger was fine I thought and no scan ever took place?

Spencer is the biggest concern because he's our only ruck coverage.

Nevertheless, the sky is falling.

Just watched Mission's report on the website

Dawes - 4 weeks

Petracca - will not play VFL this week. May play next week v Box Hill

Spencer - foot doesn't need surgery. Starts running on Monday. 4 weeks away

Newton - 4 weeks

Jake Spencer (foot) TBC,,,   I wonder if this is just in case,   if Gawn were to cop an injury,  then they may rush 'Spence' back with injections?   a sort of a 'notification'.

I'd expect Spencer to be off a few more weeks from an RSI ?

I was at training last week and his bandaged finger never touched a footy in flight. He took everything with his other hand. I hope that was purely precautionary but we have no way of knowing the extent of the injury. We must assume it is nothing.

did you notice how the sky looked, earl? a bit dodgy? crumbly maybe?

DC being a long time Dees supporter it goes without saying, of course it's crumbling.

So only Dawes, Newton and Speno out for a month. Looking good. Spencer the only concern as we need his cover

lets hope we have an equally good injury list at round 8

Hard to fault his work ethic, but it's his ability that's the issue. Others have passed him by, and the only way he'd get into my best 22 would be if we are hit with a barrage of injuries to our other KPPs.

On the injury report it was said that Spencer " popped " his plantar fascia with spontaneous improvement. Can any one explain what happened there?

When it tears in half you can't fix it, so it's helpful when it rips so you can get over it and move on.

I think Jamar had the same thing happen?

And the story goes Robert Harvey jumped off a table a few times to 'pop' his.

I think most of this is close to accurate anyway.

Just nice not seeing Trengove and Petracca's names on the list...although if Petracca is not yet playing I'm not sure why his name is not there.

because he has been cleared to play - which will be on GF....

I just had an update from Adam Baldwin regarding Spencer. I was confused initially but it looks like a good outcome!
