Where should I sit for QB clash 2016

Hi D'landers,

I'm bringing the family to Melbourne this year to watch the Dees play on Queens Birthday. This is my first time to the G and I've got no idea where the best place is to book tickets for the game. I've spoken to the club and they said my interstate membership gets me general admission (probably Level 3), she suggested I upgrade to a seat on Level 2 in either the Southern or Olympic stand as I'm more likely to be amongst Demon fans. She said to avoid the Ponsford Stand. 

Anyone got any advice for good spots, would prefer not to be staring into the afternoon sun if possible.

Southern stand you will have sun in your eyes.

Olympic stand you will have your back to the sun (so to speak).

Avoid Ponsford at all costs. You might not get out alive.

well despite what de-luded might say about the northern side, this is where you need to get a reserved seat as others have said.

if you like to  be close to the wing the mfc have a reserved seat area on level one just to the east (richmond) side of the members. they have both  open air seating and for a liitle more $$s under cover seating further back. i'm sure this area is not fully booked by season regulars and if you get in quick you should get a decent choice and be among birds of a feather

No idea what is and isn't available to purchase but: 

Level 2 Olympic stand closest to the wing for optimal viewing pleasure. A little height makes it easier to follow play and not too far back as to be missing the atmosphere and action.

Level 1 Olympic stand right down the front if you want to get the kids (presuming they are part of the family) right up close to AFL footballers, especially near the Melbourne bench. The viewing isn't as good down there (hard to see what's happening on the far wing and not as easy to track ball movement) but the atmosphere might be slightly better.

Not usually too much sun around in the middle of winter but yeah definitely more Melbourne fans and more comfortable if there is sun on the Northern side than Southern side. 

The Ponsford stand is definitely the Collingwood stand. Sitting with our cheersquad can be fun but for a one off first time at the G you'd be selling yourself short to watch the game from behind the goals. 

Similarly the front few rows of the top deck aren't too bad but it's not great having kids up there (just seems a long way from the game for them and a lot of stairs/take the lifts, same for oldies) and if you're willing to spend a little more then first or 2nd level will likely be worth it.

Out of interest, I have general admission membership and sit on Level 3 Olympic, right next to the Members. Last year on QB, the first 15 or so rows of this section had been reserved for Pies fans, for some reason, which meant we were well up in the nosebleeds: maybe better to reserve ahead.

I am a MCC member so I'm usually sitting on the northern wing (in the winter the GA southern wing would be excellent also).

I find the best view is level 2 as I'm close to the action but also able to see the whole field, I've taken friends and colleges there and they are often blown away by the seats.

However, I often have the most fun when I'm on level 1. I consider the crowd and the acoustics a little noisier, especially among Dees fans (as we rev one another up, well I do) .

The most important thing to do is find yourself a decent sized group of Dees fans and sit among them. If you find yourself surrounded by Pies supporters move immediately. I for one am always happy to slide down a few seats for other Dees fans, on the basis it doesn't impede my view, I'm sure many others here would act the same.

Get among it, rev one another and the players up, as it's the atmosphere (alongside a win) that makes a game truly special.

No sun in your eyes on level 2. 

Level 2 Southern Stand and Level 2 Olympic Stand are more or less the same view: best view in the house. Olympic Stand is much nicer though. Nicer crowd.

Good spot!.  You will get a great view of the black and white army filing out half way through the last quarter.

Yeah im Resered Olympic m50, right next to MCC reserved, used to be on the other side, sun was a pain in the eyeball.

Love being close to the bench, and have some real loud mouths amongst us (including myself)
