What screams Richmond more than Daryl Braithwaite's 'Horses'? Probably someone OD'd on horse behind Dimmeys... but let's get back to the entertainment...

The Toigs are going with Daryl Braithwaite's Horses for the season opener. Daz himself will be on stage singing it before the game whilst horses gallop around our hallowed turf, I [censored] you not.

But the fun and hijinks don't stop there, there'll also be karaoke cam at quarter and 3 quarter time. To which songs, you might ask, well just the one, Horses.

And there'll also be a lip sync battle at half time, if you haven't got enough of Horses yet, it'll be to Horses.

I'm not making this [censored] up. Thank you Richmond, I for one, cannot wait.

Didn't Brisbane want to trot out some mangy old lion before all their games?

This is more humane and what a treat for the kiddies. Hope Hoges doesn't slip and do his knee on one of the droppings.

If (when) Richmond are losing late in the game, I hope the Carlton fans are smart enough to sing Goodbye Horses as the Tiger faithful leave with their "tails" between their legs.

Just give me the anticipation of the good old MFC possibly winning the game, that's all I need before the bounce. This year is where it all starts again, one hopes.

Next thing you know, they will probably get some bloke in a velvet smoking jacket to play their club song on the bugle before games (I know it was a trumpet, I just don't care).

Just give us the 2s, a cold pie and some peace and quiet.

I just quoted this because this is how I want my footy. Perhaps with a beer at halftime too. Lip synching, f...k me

You know what makes it worse? The whole reason for this is actually to tie in with their sponsor's advertising campaign.

Bingle Ad

Pathetic from RIchmond. Wonder if anyone will change their name to Whiskas for it too?

Pretty sure the Hawthorn boys have been using this exact song over the past few years after successful games / wins / finals - fairly well publicized as well.

All seems a bit too 'try hard' for my liking and in no way relates to their cause - except where mentioned above for advertising links.

Why not have a freakin song about a tiger/s?

Eye of the Tiger? With a compilation of inspirational Maric footage on the big screen. Works for me.

How will this last through the whole season? Such a soulless entertainment idea. Instead of ads on the scoreboard why don't the fans just sing the ads! At least we give out a pair of New Balance shoes

It is surprising Rich let their players be seen in such an ad (even if photo shopped).  The image screams 'weakness':  white is the colour of surrender!

It is worth noting that the Hawks request to wear their dark jumper vs Freo in last years prelim rather than the 'white' away strip was for a very good reason:  psychological impact.

Contrast that white, soft image to our new 2016 commercial: Dark. A touch Sinister. Strong. Purposeful - a 'don't mess with us' look!

Wouldn't be surprised if Richmond are the big sliders of 2016.

If other clubs want to make a mockery out of their brand then go right ahead. I like our direction our club is taking to restore pride and respect back into our Melbourne brand.

I'm sure the tigers and old Daz will make a pretty penny with this stunt.

Goddamn. That takes it from being strange and fecking stupid to being incredibly cynical.

The day will come when you will have to prove that you use the club sponsor's insurance, or drive their car, or drink their beer, or use their betting agency, before you are allowed in to the game.

I hope "karaoke cam" shows some disgruntled punters telling Tiges and Bingle just what they think.

Turn the stupid loud speakers and gambling ads off. Stop the stupid games and interviews by inarticulate, frothy, superficial radio and TV personalities. Bring back the youth games and 2nds. I don't want to buy anything more, sign on or up to anything more, or be swamped with pop-culture carp.

Is it too much to ask to just watch the %$#×@# football! Give me a coffee and a Footy Record and leave me alone to talk footy with family and friends.

Horses. Bugger me. (These 2 statements are not be connected in any way)

2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best.
