Tom McDonald needs to take a good hard look at himself.

Well at least you've had the courage to say something.! Your mate DazzleDavey cut down several trees last week in order to give us the benefit of his ( extremely tedious) negative views re TMac. This week, he's had nothing to say. No " sorry Tommy and well played on Sunday" or any other acknowledgement . In other words, if we can't attack someone, we say nothing.

both the coaches and commentators have stressed the new  game style, the greater emphasis on attack from defence. Everyone has mentioned that while this develops mistakes will be made. Garland, Wagner, Salem and TMac all made mistakes on Sunday, and let me warn you, they will make them on Sunday week and thereafter, but we must make this change  and, overall, our list with the much stronger midfield, we will do much better

Ridiculous. Not to mention wrong.

A much better game from Tommy Mac. The type of game we want to see from him.

Farmer, I'll tell you what's tedious. Posters like yourself who carry this mindset of anyone who is critical of a player being a "hater", and if said player has a good game, that it should be rubbed in that poster's face as you and others choose to do.

Everyone can see Tommy's potential, which is what makes the simple errors all the more frustrating. He's an elite defender who has to work very hard on some basic elements of his game, which no doubt he is doing. Sunday's game is the bar for Tommy. He is good enough for that to be the standard.

We as supporters are going to get frustrated at times, and we are going to hold our "better" players to a higher standard. Get used to it.

Ooooh burn!

To be fair, you were a lot more generous with your criticism of McDonald. Not saying it was unwarranted, I'm just saying...

There are no certainties today regarding player contracts. There is big money, player managers and intangibles like the lure of going home.  What is tangible however is team success. Jesse is saying that and I am sure Tom is thinking it.  I hope they both become one club players but there are no guarantees and that's why team success us so important. My guess is that Tom will sign another contract and Jesse will be with us for another 2 years but after that is anyone's guess. Anything can happen, just look at Donald Trump.

Not worried about Tom McDonald leaving the club at all. He will stay.

As will Jesse Hogan.

...and you love them both?

Ernie, admittedly the Trump phenomenon is categorically unbelievable. (In the context of the USA maybe less so)  However one thing cannot happen, you cannot put your elbow in your ear. The defence rests.

Thanks for looking in the mirror Tom.

See wasn't that hard was it :pj:

I too have been horrified by some of TMac's apparent brain fades over the years but today's game showed that when Tom has some good options in front of him he can deliver the ball beautifully and did so on many occasions in this game particularly in the last quarter when our forward line was open and on the move. I don't think he missed a target in the last half and his kicks were low and hard. Keep it up Tom.

He worked his tail off in the last, he was clearly bothered by cramping in hammies and calf muscles for most of the qtr but ground it out and was superb.

Where are all the haters now saying we could do without him? Sit down!

Great game yesterday. Half key position back, half dashing rebounding defender. When his disposal is tidy, he is immense.

Tom is a great player. Give me contested ball in the defensive half, give me Tom McDonald.  Works his butt off and never shirks a contest. Will (if not already) take over from Dunn as our key back and defensive leader.

Already has.

I still think Dunn has a big role to play for us though.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
