Liam Reidy is the one we should look at end of 2025

Would be nice to pick something out from Flogmantle rather than them attacking our list all the time

players who left flagmantle to win a premiership at the dees - langdon

players who left mfc to win one at flagmantle - ............

I note we are on page 34, the same number Dees' jumper that is vacant this year.

Smart kid keeping his bridges intact. I don't see the concern.

Anyone seen anything to suggest KW is any good?

Yep, smooth mover, good footy brain, good skills at some of the preseason sessions I saw.  Also a tall lad who will fill out over time.

really?

I was always a Melbourne fan my whole life. I’ve always had the red and blue on me. After that [2021] Grand Final, it was an unreal experience. Seeing my dad emotional, it holds a special place in my heart

if he doesn't pick mfc then we've really done something wrong

What position does he play?  Please say "forward"

he plays 'tall' - wants to be a fwd / ruck but can also play key back, as he did last year; think mac andrew / the de koning bros / sam darcy

he's nowhere near as credentialed as the latter at the same age, but is ahead of mac or either de koning bros in terms of underage representation etc.

also, again, i think it's worth reiterating that if gc17 make finals they are only entitled to pick 2 out of 4 (if you include white) academy selections available in 2025

there's no way they're not picking zeke uwland (most pundits rate him a top 3 selection, if not pick 1) and whose elder brother is already at the club, while beau addinsall was bog in last year's 'futures' game and seems to be another pointy end pick

Ok so bring on the Suns 25 finals campaign. Opposite of the Freo deathride...

I don't want to put any pressure on Kalani White.

Let him have fun and enjoy his footy this year.

He still has a lot of development to do.

He can make up his mind at the end of the season.

You'd think he hasn't come forward to state his preferred club because if he says us, then he may not be able to be part of the Academy program. Also if he wants to stay up north he could come out and say his preferred club are the Suns. Therefore I'm hoping he picks us as he'll have Gawny as his mentor and play forward ruck for us like his dad. Secondly the Suns have another couple of Academy players that are ahead of him, how can they pick them all.

Camporeale twins went to Carlton from SA, rather than try their luck in the draft and maybe have an SA club select them.

tl; dr - some minor talk that Kalani might pick the Dees as there’s more opportunity for him given the logjam of tall options at gc17

We certainly will be desperate to find our new Gawn.

His Insta photo his of him training with the Dees…. Based on Kozzy logic that means he’s guaranteed to sign with us right?

White and Jackson sure would be nice to have on the list.

Possibly a couple more Whites to follow.

FWIW - he can enjoy his football and commit, am getting mixed signal from watchers - some saying he is being rated on his Dad's credentials and others saying he is a talent in his own right (beyond his height) anyone care to comment on work ethic? observations on that are interesting to me, I would kind of expect him to still be a baby giraffe at his age/height, more interested in knowing he has that hunger.

At the pre Christmas captains run I had a chance to chat with him as he was standing alone with most sponsors unaware who he was. He is such a level headed athlete. He towers over me, as you can see and I am 180 cm. He is 200 cm and still growing, can jump 2 metres  and signs autographs  "Kal White #34". He was happy to talk about his dads exploits and was quick to point out he has his dad covered in all the metrics mentioned ie height (he is taller), leap(he can jump higher), athletics (state rep) and jumper number (draw from that what you will). He is currently playing as a key back and has a burning desire to play AFL . He did not look out of place training and was delighted that a supporter knew who he was. He is very much his own player and certainly not relying on his dads abilities.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
