Thanks for posting this, Biggestred. I didn't realize they were doing that. As you say, what a disgrace. He has to sue them to find out what chemicals they've injected into his body. Good on him. That's one of the puzzles for me - why is nobody taking legal action to make that smirking lump of blubber Dank tell them what he pumped into them. Even Essendon aren't - you'd think they'd want to know. Only assumption I can make is that they do know - but their "scientist" was so stupid, he didn't realize it was illegal, so when McKenzie or Baker (sorry forget which half of the Dynamic Duo) pointed it out, they destroyed all records.

I reckon "The 34" are going to be filthy rich one day - surely they'll take legal action, and succeed - mind you, they'll have to live with the fear of what it's doing to their bodies.

It appears that the fact which caused the CAS to invoke the 12 month ban and refuse the deduction for compliance/co-operation, was that the players, all of them, wilfully, refused to disclose, that they had been injected with substances, to ASADA investigators on numerous occasions, when they had a statutory obligation to do so. There was absolutely no way of avoiding this finding, on their own evidence.

This fact, has also turned many staunch followers of the players "total Innocence" line, to alter their views on the players behaviour and involvement in the program.

They'd have rather been guilty of workplace negligence  for not keeping records than let the players be suspended for taking banned substances.

The parents of former Essendon player Hal Hunter are "appalled" that the AFL and Essendon are pursuing court costs against their son after he took legal action arising from the disastrous 2012 injection program.

"The approach by the club and AFL is totally at odds with the statements on Tuesday by Lindsay Tanner and Mike Fitzpatrick regarding the importance of player welfare and the admissions of serious failings at the club.

"Instead what we have seen from the club and AFL has been a combative stance resisting Hal at every turn. Documents have been released in dribs and drabs and at the very last moment, there have been ongoing delays, argument and of course mounting costs.

"Hal was 18 and the youngest player at the club when he was drafted in late 2011. Hal was part of the injection program from early 2012 and he received injections both at the club and offsite.

"While we as a family and those close to him have tried to support Hal in this process, it has taken a huge toll on him. We have real concerns for his ongoing physical and mental well-being as a result of not only what happened at the club but the approach the club and AFL have taken to Hal's case since.

"We would urge the AFL and the club to meet with us and bring this matter to a conclusion as soon as possible. Hal should be given as much detail as possible in order for him to address the implications of the injection program at the club and, to allow him to get on with his life."

Ok, now I'm really confused. Got this from an article on the age:

Hunter did not receive an infraction notice — likely because he did not sign a consent form for the relevant substance — and thus avoided the year-long suspensions, but he is no longer playing football. 34 current and ex-Essendon players received season bans for doping offences on Tuesday.

So Hunter got jabbed, but didn't sign the consent form. So that gives him, what, plausible deniability regarding TB4? So ASADA didn't bother pursuing him in the first place?

And the rest get nabbed because they DID sign the form, showing they knew they were getting "Thymosin" or whatever was written on there.

Also how does that work around the club? Why would a guy, who presumably knows a bunch of other players signed a consent form, keep getting jabbed without having signed one? Similarly, did the players who DID sign the form, not think it strange that a guy who DIDN'T sign the form was still getting injections?

My head hurts.

Amazing. A bloke is basically requesting his own medical records and is being hounded by the holders of those records. If he was a big name player I am sure there would be mass hysteria about this. Makes be bloody angry. I can not stand that club now, and the ignorant buffoons at the AFL. Close to walking form the game if this crap keeps up without anyone being called to account.

My guess is they know but don't want the fall out. Imagine if they do know and there are other banned substances on the records. We would start all over again with a new round of infractions as ASADA would have the evidence to prosecute. Hexeralin, CJC, the horse drug, and the mystery drug from mexico all come to mind.

No unfortunately!  They are trying to scare the beejesus out of anyone who even thinks of taking EFC/AFL to court.

Disgraceful that a multi-billion $ AFL is trying to get a few pennies from a kid who is simply exercising his rights.  A kid that was abused in their care.

Its ok for EFC, Hird etc to exercise their legal rights but oh no, not a kid who is probably scared stiff of what they put in him.

Meanwhile they are concocting a plan to give millions to fund the suspended players.

Meanwhile AFLPA wants the player legal suits against the very same EFC/AFL settled out of court. Which players, Mr Marsh? Is Hal Hunter not one of them?  Hunter is not even asking for money or damages he just wants his medical records!

One of their clubs tried to cheat on an industrial scale and the AFL were prepared to let them get away with it so that their own reputation wouldn't suffer.

It's not out of the question that, unchecked, a 'roided-up EFC could have won a flag.

They both now deserve everything coming their way.

Maybe the AFLPA is only representing the 34 suspended players ie the guilty and not all players injected ie the innocent!

At least some players are coming to their senses and giving the AFLPA the flick: "There have been suggestions the players have split into three groups, with one agent seeking outside legal opinion for a group of players". 

It is in the AFLPA's interests, not necessarily the players, to do a 'deal' with the AFL and EFC. 

The more players that seek independent (and dare I say it competent) legal advice the more likely we are to see it play out in court.  That would be a very good outcome...at least there would be some truth told for a change.
