The Pedo myths are strong in this thread....

Here's a comparison of stats between these two for last year:

http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/ft_player_compare?tid1=12&pid1=1746&tid2=12&pid2=3552&type=A&fid1=S&fid2=S

The love for Pedo vs the hatred of Dawes is mystifying given the similarities between these numbers..

Pedo also missed most of the year and will be 29 when this season starts.

he took a couple of good grabs one day and his reputation was cemented forever

i call it the Miller-Hall syndrome

I don't think either offer us much. Dawes can't hold his grabs and struggles to get to the contest and/or best position and Pedo can hold his grabs but is lazy and doesn't have a lot of game sense.

The sooner Weideman & Hulett are playing the better.

Peddo wins just about every category though.

It's like trying to figure out which is better -  home and away or neighbours.

I would like to clone Millers ability to lead up, Dawes for his 1% and willingness to put in and Pedo's hands when he is on.

By the barest of margins if at all, hence the mystery about their polar opposite appeal on here.

Neither are solutions as the second tall going forward as both have many limitations..

More than a hint there, DD36. Gravity works just as well whether Dawes is in the team or not.

Roget's Thesaurus:- Gravity - Synonyms.....Pressure... Weight....Force......Dawes

I bloody hope not, not if he is going to deliver what he has so far

I don't have the contempt for him that many do, but it has to be said that in his 44 games over 3 years he has only had an 'important' impact maybe 10 times at best

and as the OP has pointed out, he's missed one game out of every three for injury, which clearly doesn't help

I reckon he has it in him though

He has played almost 75% of the games in the last 3 years. I don't believe the league average is much more than that.

Chris Dawes is one of the most important players for our club in 2016.  Jesse Hogan will be targeted next season, he needs the seasoned big body next to him.  Like to see Pedersen as the third tall and give the young talls time to develop.  To have a forward line like below gives us a chance

Garlett Hogan Pederson

Watts Dawes Kent

Totally agree. We need 2 additional big bodied forwards to help hogan out.

If all that he does is to take some pressure off hogan then he is worth his spot.

big bodied forwards are hard to come by and he plays an invaluable role as the link man and bringing the ball to ground.

There is a reason that he gets selected every week and doesn't get dropped

Have you considered that during the last three years there has been next to no alternatives?

3 years x 22 games = 66 games.

44 is 66.7% of 66.

People are forgetting that Pedo would be on half the salary of Dawes. So for Pedo to beat Dawes in most categories, even by the slightest of margins, is pretty damning for Dawes. Plus the big key thing that Pedo has is that he can take a [censored] overhead mark which, believe it or not, is a pretty vital skill for a key forward.

Dawes will get a game over pederson every week and frost has played all of 1 game for the club.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
