You can search my threads and you'll find I am far from a JW hater but seriously - I couldn't give a rat's tossbag who the best trainer is - I would prefer the quote to read "if you ask any of the boys who the best player on game day is, Wattsy would be right up there". Training is not played for premiership points.

I can't imagine one supporter that doesn't want Watts to succeed and have a fantastic year of footy.  Notwithstanding my personal views as to the likelihood, I'll do cartwheels if he can kick 40+ goals.  Btw, I realise his success doesn't have to rely solely upon goals, but that's where I see his highest value.

Well so would i but none the less its great to hear Wattsy is training so well.

Agreed. I think he'll have a huge year if training is anything to go by. However, I suspect there will be plenty of hand on the forehead moments, coupled with head shaking and groans of disbelief. 

I arrived towards the very end of today's session and only got to see the final drill before run throughs. It seemed to be a 'keep the ball moving at all cost drill'. 

Saw a nice series of sharp, precise handballs, to clear the stoppage, out to Watts, who gave off a looping lollipop to his team mate, Who was then obliterated by Melksham? (Saw him stop Viney in his tracks!!) 

Moments later, Jack made great space down the 'member wing', loomed up to half forward, tried to draw the man coming toward him, did, realised he'd gotten too close, tried to 'sell him some candy' only to find his candy had gone. Ouch. End of drill. 

Lets hope the goshes stay at Gosch's.

I only say this because I'm impatient to see how good Jack Watts will be. He will turn games on their head. I'll just park my expectations in behind the next flag regret and throw away the keys.

He is highly motivated to get back and play with the guys and to 'prove a few people wrong'.  Says when he joins the main group for training will be a significant day in his recovery.  But this comment left me a little uncertain as to whether he will play again: “I figure now that I’m playing on borrowed time, so anything I achieve now is a real bonus,” 

In another article on our website Jack says: “It’s just a matter of getting comfortable kicking the footy, running around the ground, pushing off the foot and getting tackled. I’ve got to tick them off over the next couple of weeks, but it’s all going to plan at this stage.”  Some big things to tick off by the sound of it before he can join the main group for training.

I know it is a different injury but I think of Daniel Menzel's comeback rnd 22 last year after 3 years out so it makes me optimistic that Jack can come back as he is still young and time is on his side...borrowed or otherwise.

It will be a very emotional day when Jack runs out in the red and blue thru our banner again.

I wouldn't see that as particularly sinister.

Jack will be 25 this year, and some of his cohorts in the 2009 draft have now played 110-130 games. That puts him well behind with perhaps 6-7 years of his career left. His time is indeed "borrowed" given he has missed so much.

He's actually played the 8th most games out of the top 20 from that draft. Doesn't seem right but it is. I reckon that 'borrowed time' comment is pretty defeatist

The thought that Freo got Fyfe at 20 in that draft and we got Scully and Trengove is enough to make me vomit

Agreed.  It could have been worded better, but it's pretty clearly a case of his career could have been over, and if he gets to playing again it's a bonus he needs to be grateful for.

How many of those top 20 been delisted , he's to slow he's finished I hope he proves the doubters wrong but if I was him I would be planning a resume for 2017.

Give him time to prove himself fit 'Middy', if he is he is walk up best 22.

If his foot fails him again I don't think he will have a problem picking up a coaching/support role in the AFL if that's what he wants, he's too good a kid.

Yeah totally agree he's a terrific person if he breaks down again hopefully the club offers him a coaching position.
