Brett Anderson just tweeted me back an emphatic Oliver to go at 3/4 to Dee's. Looks like that ones a given. Question now turns to 7

If we take Oliver I'll be a bit smug because as soon as I saw his highlights (I know it's hard to read a lot into them) I rated him highly.

We all will.

As if we were the only one who did.

The difference is when I saw his highlights he wasn't rated a top pick.

Is that a difference?

I think most people thought the same.

Still find all this last minute interest in Oliver really unusual. Have to wonder if this is some kind of plan from Essendon.

Mark Neeld would want Parish over Ollie wouldn't he

not sure if already mentioned, but oliver actually has a persistent/chronic groin issue and didn't train much his year, as in he just rocked up to games and played. (three of my mates who are getting drafted next year who play against and with him told me this).

A bit risky imo

Don't forget I agreed with you soon after...

He has been doing a pre season program given to him by the bushies and one on one work with a personal trainer aswell.

His body is injury free.

The suggestion that our interest in and decision to select a particular player in the National Draft being dictated by another club is absurd in the extreme.

Let me ask you this, what plans have Melbourne made for other clubs to select which players?

Olisik just had one of the all time great orgasms. Well done son.

Oh, and welcome Clayton. I reckon you'll be a gem!

alright lets hope this pick works out. SEN said his mum is in tears. I hope thats because her son got drafted and not because melbourne got him.

Looking forward to seeing what this kid can do.

Welcome Clayton looking forward to explosions in the middle.

How long until there is a thread saying we should have drafted Darcy Parish? Too soon?

I was thinking of starting tonight

Welcome to Melbourne Clayton

I look forward to 10 years of Oliver vs Parish threads

Buckle up kid, and whatever you do stay away from Demonland

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

  • POSTGAME: Richmond

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
